The second time in my life that I've shown cattle and I get the crazy one. So we took them down Friday to let all three calves get used to the noise (my cousins were showing too) and that went great. Then comes sunday. The second time I have led this calf myself and I'm about to go into the show ring and bam she freaks out runs away and goes into the ring without me so now I'm crying for no reason (ok well she did run away from me) and I'm told by the ring man who caught my calf and brought her back for me to smile! ya right. but hey I beat my cousin and got second last in showmanship (thanks judge!) the second class of the the day I let my cousin Joey take her because if she freaked at the gate again he had a better chance of holding on then I did. She did good and got a second (ok well there were only two in the class but who needs to know that right?) monday is the 4-H show day. I showed off that calf the best I could, and I got dead last in every class because "your calf just isn't fun to work with." I'll just let that go because the judge is right she's not fun to work with, she's half deaf, really spooky, and too skinny to be a beef heifer, and to top it off she's a kicker, try cleaning those hooves . So I was thinking we should make a dead last club for those of us who can't win...... with a trophy and everything..... now that woould be a class I could win

well I can't say my life has been boring

well i had a very crazy summer and it looks like it's going to carry on to the fall as well. I pretty much have four animals. my horse Lonita, my cat Allie, my dog Star and my calf Sable. well this summer Allie suffered from a kick to the jaw thanks to the neighbour, so she can't go outside anymore. she's also a $4000 cat now. my 4-h calf Sable is CRAZY we have to drug her to work with her. now we don't have to do it all the time anymore but she's still crazy. we also discovered that she is deaf in one ear, which explains some of the things that she does but she's still crazy. god help me this weekend when i have to show her at the fair. my horse lonita blew out both her suspensory ligaments this summer which led to the discovery that she has DSLD. so now all we can do is keep her comfortable untill her time comes. well......... i was grooming her today and i took her halter off before we left the cross ties because her stall is right there and lets face it there's no where she can get fast. well i put my hand on the side of her face just behind her jaw and found a nice "ball" for her thyroid gland. so i went and checked some other horses and they didn't have a lump there. so guess what? my horse has an inlarged thyroid gland!!!! whoopy!! not. don't get me wrong I love my horse to death but what else could go wrong?!?!? what did we do to deserve this?? sometimes life just sucks but you just have to keep on slugging along. so If your looking for me I'll be out back sluging along
