I know that my trainer has wanted to ride JW since I got him. You can just tell they do! Well he got his chance last night. We'll call him A.
Unfortunately or fortunately, I'm not sure which yet, JW was on his best behavior. He did show him a little of the spookiness that I've been seeing - but with A. standing there clanking his spurs, waving and clapping his hands, and talking to me that helped him learn how to focus on me while lounging. That was a good thing!
It was hot and our area is outside and we have no shade, so we really didn't work really hard. But A. told me that's OK because we were really working his mind and trying to get him to loosen up. So seeing what he knows was important and then starting a plan for me to work on.
I could tell JW was a little nervous with A. and kept looking at me while he was being lounged which makes me feel good but it wasn't good for him :) He worked it out and did the best he could.
We have some work to do on our lateral flexion (a lot actually). Which will be good for both of us... I could use a little horsey yoga too!!
I also was confirmed that I have a very honest (but kinda lazy :)) horse which I knew all along, I just wanted someone to tell me that!! WHOHOOO!!
We ended on a good note moving both shoulders and rear end independently. I will probably need to get some nubbin spurs to assist with my leg cues for now, he's just a little stubborn when I'm asking for shoulders over :)
I'm very excited to start this new learning process!!
