Hi Hettie

I basically just rub my hands over him with gentle yet firm pressure. I am going to get certified for equine massage so I've taken a quick course on how to do the movements and a lot more of research on my own for other movements and anatomy. It all depends on what the individual animal likes. I can't do any percussion moves (taps or anything like that) on him, it drives his energy right back up again. But when I rub his shoulders and neck he starts to get relaxed. He really likes long rubs on his hamstrings too. Once I do that he is in a trance like state - but is SO focused on me its actually pretty amazing!

Sounds like your ride was fun! How do you do the massage that you mentioned?? Just wondering, because I'd like to massage my hypo mare before I ride her, but I'm not exactly sure what to do! Thanks.
