I basically just rub my hands over him with gentle yet firm pressure. I am going to get certified for equine massage so I've taken a quick course on how to do the movements and a lot more of research on my own for other movements and anatomy. It all depends on what the individual animal likes. I can't do any percussion moves (taps or anything like that) on him, it drives his energy right back up again. But when I rub his shoulders and neck he starts to get relaxed. He really likes long rubs on his hamstrings too. Once I do that he is in a trance like state - but is SO focused on me its actually pretty amazing!

How do you do the massage that you mentioned?? Just wondering, because I'd like to massage my hypo mare before I ride her, but I'm not exactly sure what to do! Thanks.
