I took on a new arrival a 7 month old Quarter Horse, I got her from a what I thought friend. I knew of this colt as she was at a stable that I used to be at, they had put her in a box stall and she was lucky if she got fed complaining to stable owner did no good when she was fed it was Alfalfa and cow grass, when she arrived she was bloated my friend told me it was from what her friend had been feeding it she stated it had not been vaccinated or wormed. This was on 12/03/2011 after getting her settled and letting her get used to everything, mind you that you cant take her halter off as no one has touched this horse once caught she is lovable as long as you are slow does not like to be touched has no trust in a human which is sad, any way on 12/06/2011. I vacinated her and wormed her, on 12/07/2011 I came home and watched her in the pasture and thought something is wrong I went and waited for her to approach me and when she turned to walk she stumbled I seen she had hay in her nose so I went in closer and pulled it off and thick green drainage just started pouring and she was even more bloated I called the vet and he said blanket her, fresh water, light food and in the morning get penicillian and for 4 days 12 cc, she got this the morning this afternoon she was more perky which I dont know that the injection works that fast, she is slightly less bloated but still very bloated and the worms are finally coming out but today the drainage even though is mild compared to what it was yesterday is now in both nostrils and now she is barely drinking. See the photos that I added of her
