Percheronrider's Dressage Journey

I am a Dressage rider in a Therapeutic Riding program at the Virginia Horse Center. I have several disabilities that I cope with all the time. I have ridden horses since I was in High School. I studied Hunt Seat for several semesters. I got back into riding again as part of my therapy for Fibromyalgia. I have ridden Thoroughbreds for the most part, Arabians. I think my best experiences have been with the Draft sport horses. They don't seem to mind tight, stiff muscles. I've had to cope with some fears I had from the bad fall I took when I was 19. The Drafts seem to understand. One horse in particular, Ben, a Suffolk Punch helped me the most with that fear.

News

This year has been one of change. Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Center moved to the Virginia Horse Center. The first session in May was cut shorter because the move took longer than anticipated. My favorite buddy horse, Ben was sent to another therapeutic riding center. The Percheron sport horse I rode for the past two years was retired. I tried a couple of other horses. I have been riding a Cleveland Bay-TB retired Grand Prix Hunter.
