This is my first post on my blog. Cool beans. Ok, just a little bit about the horses that own me. My horse, Sedona, is a 5 year old QH/ Percheron cross we got from the Uniontown Stock Auction in Alabama on Nov. 20, 2007. She came off the Farquhar State Cattle Ranch where she worked cows. Personally, I think she's too big to be a good cutting horse, but since I haven't seen her work cows she may yet surprise me. Heck, she surprises me everyday. Sedona is about 16hh to 16 1/2hh, and she's a pretty sorrell with a white blaze. My dad says she looks like a quarter horse on steroids, just to give you a good mental picture since my dang computer isn't letting me put pictures on here! *rant* She was green as grass when we got her, although the paper on her said "anyone can ride." Bull crap. Yeah, she knows when you pull to the left that means go left, etc., but it was up to her whether or not she felt like moving. She's come so far since then, but we still have a long way to go. My aunt really helped me out with her, teaching Sedona (and me!) the basics, like lunging, ground manners, etc. Sedona was my first horse, and had it not been for my aunt, I would have been one of those stories you see telling you why green horses and green riders don't mix. Sedona's still learning, but right now the only bad thing about her I can think of is she kicks at other horses when she is in one of her moods. She's never kicked at me or anyone else, and yes, we have walked directly behind her, she just doesn't like other horses being too close. (If anyone has a solution, tell me!)

Toby is Sedona's pasture mate. He's my aunt's 32 year old TWH gelding. Being completely honest, if you looked out into the pasture, you'd think he was a mule from a distance. He's a blood bay, but he has quite a few gray hairs from his old age. Looks aside, though, he's one of the best riding horses out there ( I think). He doesn't spook, and he calms Sedona down just by being there. He's a great teacher for any kid new to riding.

I'll post more later. I have to go to bed!
