Is there anyone who can possible help me I am in desperate need of opions on some type of horse fly repellant I can not ride with out my horse and I being attacked by them it looks almost like we ran into a nest of them.. PLEASE HELP
I have found that using 1/2 cider vinegar and 1/2 witch hazel to which I apply some citronella oil works wonders. My horse hated the pyrethrin-based sprays and would dance around. He loves the new homemade spray, and he is the one of my 4 horses that is most bothered by flies.
Exact amount of citronella essential oil to use is small. Say about 10 drops for 4 cups of the liquid mixture. Just remember to shake the spray bottle before using.
I like Pyranha for really bad fly problems, it lasts the longest althought the smell is horrid.
