I am IN LOVE! 2 yr old TB filly critique please!

Okay, I am in love with this filly. There are 5 pictures, so please be patient with all the open posts- I don't know how to post them all in one post.

One Last Shout is a 2 yr old TB filly, 15.2 1/2hh (just measured today) Just came home from the trainers- wasn't wanting to be a racehorse.

I am just in love with her. She is $2500. What do you think??

Very, very nice! What are we doing with her again? At 2 she's still got growing to do, ground training, desensitising, no real riding until three and then going slow, etc. Even if she never raced she will still have to be retrained if that is where she was headed. Are you patient enough?

Even though she didn't race, have a good vet check on the legs. Sometimes they don't make it to the races because of a training injury, which, yep, makes them not fast enough. Re my Bandit with the stress fracture in right shoulder. He was a rescue so I didn't care but they never declared it either...

She is a beauty though, and looks like she's got potential to excell in just about anything you might want to do.

I reread the email- they pulled her b/c of time and expenses and I guess she was one of the slower ones, so they decided to pull her instead of a faster one.

She'd be doing hunters (maybe some eventing) I've raised foals from birth to riding age, trained a few undersaddle, and retrained a problem horse (rearer) I'd probably start at square one (lunging/ground work) and work her up and maybe do some walking work under saddle until January, then start some other slow ground work. No jumping at all until 4, even then it would just be ground poles and cross rails. Nothing big until she was 5.

I am in no hurry to jump- I haven't ridden much since I went to college, so I need to build my muscles up to what they used to be before I can jump again anyway. Smile

I really like her. I would definately get a vet check from a 3rd party vet. Smile

    She looks pretty nice.

Personally, I despise movement photos and video of a horse when they are prancing around with their tails up. They aren't moving true to form in that state of mind and most horses, even the dumpy clod-hoppers will show loft and extension. So if you are looking for hunters and want nice movement make sure you see her at her normal pace - not being chased around and excited. Wink

that's why i posted both trot pics. I think the first one she is pretty calm and a pretty normal trot. The other more shows that she CAN move out, that the potential is there. Make sense? (it made sense in my mind but may not when it came out in type) LOL I will be getting a vet check of course Smile

I say buy her and then ship her to 1/2 mile farm in Grant, MN. Oops, did I type that? I meant buy her and keep us posted on her as she grows and learns. I think she is beautiful and put together pretty well. That is pretty amazing since I am not really a TB fan.

Sad thing is, she is closer to you than to me! LOL I really like her. Going to call tomorrow and try to get a vet exam worked out and all. Grin
