Major breakthru yesterday! K. (son's girlfriend - a real 'keeper') has been coming out for a while now to ride Doe. She has ridden some as a small child but is a bit of a timid rider - Doe loves timid riders as he is very lazy. I'm quite vocal (loud and strong) when lungeing him and have tried to get her to be a little bit 'strong' with him. Yesterday she was at one end of the arena lungeing him while son and Hubby were at the other with Jelly Bean, I was over at the stalls doing something when I heard K. yelling at Doe, not sure what she said but it was really YELLING. Went to see what was going on and said to her "I heard you yelling at him!" Before I could say how proud I was of her for finally getting after him, she started saying she was sorry she didn't mean to hurt him. Convinced her that she hadn't done anything to hurt him in any way other than to get his attention and that he better start listening to her. When she got on him he was a much better boy for her and they had their best work yet. Really positive work/ride.
Maybe you had to be there for it to make sense?
