I like Clyde. Don't know much about draft critiquing, but his front end is heavier when you see the enlarge confo pic. And then, when you enlarge the riding pic, you'll notice the rider having trouble with that.

But, I'm just speaking in light-horse terms.

I think Clyde is attractive, and his eyes speak for his character: noble, gentle, intelligent, and willing.

So.... you gave up on Paints? BTW, love the QH on your siggy.

What are you looking to do with a new horse?

If you are looking to game, he, as with Sweetie, is just TO BIG to be competitive, even at the local 4-h level.

Yeah, he's a big ole boy!

If I really want a horse that will work for me, I shouldn't limit myself to a specific breed.

Almost everything except English. Western pleasure, halter, trail, games (not necessarily competitive), a little cow work, etc.

Id stick with a QH or Paint for all that stuff, or at least a saddle horse.

Draft horses are just so BIG!

That's what I love about draft horses -- the magnificent buttocks!

While I like to show and have fun, I still want to be competitive to a point.

A draft horse may not fare in those classes as well as a saddle breed. JMO

If you want a horse that can do pretty much anything, and has a big butt, you might want to look at Haflingers. They tend to be quite strong very manuverable, and also have a tendency to be quite smart, which can be good and bad. Anke, my Haflinger, kept taking her halter off somehow, even when tightened. I still have no clue how she did that. They tend rather calm too. On a recent trail ride, she knocked down a rotten tree, and really didn't react. They do tend to mature rather slowly, so seeing a green broke 5 or 6 year old would not be an indicator of trouble, necessarily.

These two might be worth a look, though the pics of the second aren't that great.

The comments on the Bella Luna add are the wierdest way I've ever seen someone try to sell a horse. It's flat out honest!

*chimes in* Oh Pride-in-Paints, I have the perfect little girl for you... And guess what? She's standing right here in my pasture! Imagine that...

I doubt you're looking for a yearling, but Sudha is just the most willing, easy going (but still has a smidge of attitude), sweetest yearling I've ever met. Should mature 15.2 or bigger, and be a solid girl - great for western disciplines! I also think she'd be an awesome all round horse.

Not the flashiest picture of her, but gives you an idea.

Thanks! She's just an absolute darling. Just really needs her own person. And I'd keep her in a heartbeat if I didn't have Nova and Dawn. But I'll stop now, so as not to hijack the thread!

I've got to say I can definitely see S&S's point on this one. One year we ran barrels at the draft show in Marshfield, just for fun, and the winning time was 29 seconds. And let me tell you, that Perchie looked like it was running for all it was worth.

    Does Sudha have blue eyes?
I ride high in the saddle, always saddle my own horse
still I'm every inch a lady from the outside to the core
I take the trail less traveled `cause I know where it leads
I live my life by the cowgirl creed

As for me and my horse, we will ride for the Lord!
