    Hi Anna,

They look like they're doing well. All the things you are doing will make them responsive to so much more. Saphire looks like she's really coming along !! Just wonderful !! Sonora looks great too. Great pics. Take Care...

After adding a stallion to our herd - see thread http://forum.equisearch.com/forums/t/54836.aspx

Two days ago we added another one. He neded homeASAP as owner was going abroad to work and family members refused to do anything with this boy. I can understand them - this foal was rised like a pug and has no respect to humans at all as well as no basic ground manners. At the same time he was ridden as a yearling. Good job - bareback by girls, so hopefully not serious damages had been done.

Here is our Renegat, 2 y 3 mo old boy.

He needs serious training to learn the ground manners and then he can grow into a bearable hobby horse. Today he was gelded.

Geez, is EVERY horse there just stunning?  Just goes to show that it pays to regulate breeding, sigh.  Even the rejects in Latvia are gorgeous.  I hope he will quickly realize that the world has rules!

Wow Anna - he's a beauty!  You have such a wonderful herd now.  This one may be a challenge, but hopefully he will settle down and learn to respect you and become a good riding horse.  Best of luck with him.

Wow, Renegat is quite the handsome boy. Look at that reaching trot! Hopefully, once the testosterone levels in his system have lowered, it will be easier for you to teach him proper manners. Best of luck to you!

I'm really lucky as I have supportive vet. She will keep him at her place for 2 - 3 weeks to keep an eye on gelding job done, do all the walking what is required and TRAIN him as well (Her own stallion is trained very well). So basic ideas will be put in Renny's head before he will come home. His behavior was my main concern as I do not feel like a trainer for bad boys :(

He looks overall bearable, neck is too short and head is huge, but 2 yo are quite ugly ducklings, and his line mature very late (5-6 yo only) so hard to say how he will be then. Both his parents were 17 h + but this one probably willbe 16.3 h when grown.

Rideability from his father's line as far as I know is not a piece of cake, but from his mother's line there is some good temperament coming in so hopefully he will be good enough for a hobby rider.

Here is video of him moving

Sorry, I had to laugh that you find him "bearable" and an ugly duckling.  Our poor reject rescues in the US look like this:

    Rescue horse

I mean that poor horse has back legs that look like someone put on an extra pair of front legs by mistake.  This is what happens in a country where ANYONE can put two horses together "because babies are kyoooot!"  I'm glad USERL got him and I hope they can find him a light pleasure home because he's not going to be able to do much else with legs like that.  So see, Anna -- that's why we all drool and fall over ourselves when we see Latvian rescues!

"Champ", the gray rescue horse looks like he could have DSLD also...It is not as uncommon as believed...It has just not been recognized for what it is...Most people believe it is just "weak pasterns", but you will notice how straight the hock has become and looking closely at the stifle you will see a deformation in that joint as well. He is about the right age for these signs to begin to appear.

Anna- That rescue boy you just picked up would be worth like 40k in the US, lol, bad manners or no, he is beautiful!

FocusCalmPatience, you can always have him for 10 k, LOL

But anyway, thank You for a compliment, I will tell him that tomorrow... or maybe not... it can boost his ego too much :D But he is getting better, learning who is the boss and pays for his treats. Vet had washed him last night for the first time and he said nothing - he stood very calm and obedient - not a bad sign as he had not had a bath before. So maybe he will quickly learn how to earn cookies.

Seems like Renny has already found a new home, without even coming to us (vet references are ok, new owner is known and is OK, not far away from us), so we had one box free... And we filled it with a new girl, 6 yo mare, Lilly.

So far seems that nothing really wrong with her - she just need deworming, many plates with nice mash and  a bit of TLC. Sweet and nice character, but that's about all that I can say now.

Her sire is Hector, son of  Gauguin de Lully (Swedish Warmblood). She is related by mother to our stallion (the same sire), so her mother line I know well, but about Gauguin I know nothing (his blood is not popular here). I know that quite many of his offsprings are in US so maybe you know how they are and what to expect and what Gauguin is passing over to his babies (just anything, from temperament to bad hoofs, just anything) I would be really thankful.

Dang, someone took my horse!  (Renny, LOL)  Oh well, I hope he has gone to a good happy home.  Lilly is lovely too -- I recognize Gauguin's name, I believe his line is very very popular over here, I will have to investigate....

Gouguin de Lully is dressage lines. He won silver and bronze in Seul Olympic. This mare has just basic training -walk, trot, canter, nothing more had been done so she is very green. I'm asking in hope that somebody who was close to Gouguin's offsprings can tell how they are to start, easy ride or we must expect tantrums and so on. At present we do know nothing about this girl, except that she needs a lot of good meals and a lot of love. And, yes, she also had been trained well on grooming - when you brush her, she stands still like frozen. Not moving at all, even not from one leg to another. Makes things so much easier for me.

Today we put her out in pastures along with Giva - sweet girl, accepted into herd instantly.

Here's some info I found about GdL -- he has been quite a prolific stallion!

    http://www.ultimatepiaffe.com/Gauguin.htm

    http://www.teamgauguin.com/gauguin_de_lully.htm

    One of his sons

    Some other offspring,

    Swiss breeder's shwo results

    A nice daughter

From what I am seeing, his line was used many many times -- so lovely results, like the ones above, some not so lovely, there were some kind of yucky TB crosses but some quite nice Canadian Warmbloods out his line.
