Forgot to say, either Casi changed her mind the other day, or I"m loosing it... as since then, I have NOT seen signs of her being ready to go! LOL

I've said this before, but.... I think Casi is really close! Her vulva is super relaxed, tail pretty darn relaxed, butt more mushy, and I think her milk is getting sticky (not quite there yet, but seems to be getting there).

This is an udder photo from yesterday, day 361. I know it's not much, but she's a maiden... and it's not too much less than Cocoa's was when she foaled! I"m really hoping for this week!

I THINK TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!!!!!!

Very mushy tushy, tail relaxed, vulva SUPER relaxed... when I went to check her milk she BIT ME!!! She NEVER has EVER tried that! And it's sticky :)

 Then at midnight I went out to give Sierra her eye med and saw a big ole cow poo in Casi's stall!!!

Me neither.  I remember how I felt when my first born was 2 weeks late!

I have a question for you.  Why do minis have so many problems with foaling?  I've read threads on here and lots of them on MareStare about minis that have problems.  Why is that?  Thanks

I think it's because they're so small. A lot of dystocias due to wrong positioning. I've also heard of many foals being lost if unattended b/c they didn't get out of the sack... I've heard the sack is as thick as a full size horse's. Also, minis are often born with a big forehead, such as Sierra's (it goes away with time) and I think that creates problems fitting. It's always scary!

Just for giggles...looked up the longest gestation on record:

"Foaling days after 370 days of gestation are not uncommon and usually do not represent a problem.  The longest live foal delivery on record is 445 days."

 AGH!   Maybe Casi is working on *that* record!!!
