    Who's getting excited for Rolex?!?!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting totally psyched for it!  Big Smile  I know it's still 2 months away, but I can't wait.  With it being an Olympic year, do you guys think there's going to be a big turn out?  In '04 there was, but they ran the two different formats.  I don't know and I don't really care...I'm just excited!

Haha, it's ALWAYS a huge turnout.  I won't make it up this year for my annual visit, but enjoy it for me!  I'm volunteering at the Fork Horse Trials in NC at the beginning of April instead -- it's a ***, which is what Rolex used to be, so I'm excited about seeing some of the folks I know there without having to make the long drive up to my parents' place.

ME, ME, ME!!!! Totally excited. I went last year, but only for the XC portion. This year I'll be going down with a group of women from my old barn (including the BO...we're staying with my trainer that now works at Hagyard) and we'll be down for the entire 4 days (including making a stop at 3 Chimneys...YEH!!!!!) I can't wait!!!

I believe I'm going this year to work in our Practical Horseman booth! So please stop by and say "hi"!! We're also doing a course walk (open to everyone) with Jim Wofford again this year, about 30 mins after the last dressage test on Friday. Always has a good turnout, and my coworkers love it, so try and check that out, too. Hope to meet some of you!

I have not had a chance to go but I want to soooo bad.  Where is it at?  I love watching horse jumping. I have my tv record it even though I am watching it.  I like to look at how the riders are positioned. I am new to jumping so any extra help would be great. I also love to see the beautiful horses.

It is held annually at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.  They usually show highlights about a week after on NBC or one of those channels.

Great thank you for your help.  I unfortunately won't be attending because of how far away it is.Thanks for the tip on the tv showing. I will be watching, wishing I was there.

I am SUPER excited!!!  It's only 2 weeks away!  I can't wait.  I'm starting a mental list of stuff not to forget!  :)  I am going to take SO many pictures and video and it's going to be unbelieveable!  I just hope I don't get lost.  I was looking at the site map they sent me and it looks crazy!  :)

Kate-Admin : I heard something about a course-walk that is being put on by Smart Pak.  This is separate from Practitical Horsemen's isn't it?   I tried to sign up for the Smart Pak course walk and they are already booked!  But then I remembered that you said something about a course-walk with Jim Wofford so I am in for this for sure!  Yay!  Do I have to sign-up or do anything when I get there?

     Thanks!

There are usually several course walks open to the public.  The one that has traditionally been there you just show up for, you don't have to sign up.  I've never done it though, I get worn out enough just walking around on XC day, it is a looooooong course!  It almost ALWAYS rains either Friday or Sunday, every year, so bring rain gear!  Of course, since I'm not going this year, it will probably perfect weather, LOL.  Don't worry, you won't get lost, there are so many people, all you have to do is follow the flow!

Does anyone know if there are going to be any changes to Rolex this year due to recent tragedies?  I'm just wondering if all the recent talk of safety and changing the way XC is run is going to have any effect or impact on Rolex at all?

Do you think fewer people will be competing this year?  Just curious.

No, there are no changes that a spectator would notice.  I was a XC jump judge at The Fork CCI*** and World Cup this past weekend, same crowd of competitors/horses, and everything went smoothly, even though we had your typical assortment of falls, the EMTs parked next to my jump never even had to start their rig.  The only changes were ones that occurred behind the scenes.  All the usual suspects were still there.

If anyone's at Rolex and reads this, stop by the Practical Horseman booth tomorrow and say "hi!" I'll be there bright 'n early at 9 am. If you're not at Rolex but want to get the full scoop on what's going on (including some scary falls today), read Nancy Jaffer's postcards at http://www.PracticalHorsemanMag.com.

That was a horrible fall with Laine Ashker & Frodo. I sure hope they are okay. Prayers go out to them.
