    Hankerdoodle! [critiques please! <3]

A little background on Hank. I've had him since the end of October, and he's in hunter/jumper training. I do a bit of dressage with him, but haven't gone to any shows yet. We've been to one show so far, the first I've done with him. We only entered in w/t classes because I wasn't sure how he'd act and I hadn't been able to work with him that much on cantering with other horses yet. He's all good now, and at the end of the month, we'll be doing another show of w/t/c 2'. Very exciting.

As far as breed goes, he's obviously a paint, but everyone thinks he's got some form of draft in him or he's part warmblood or something. lol He's definelty got a big head! He's 9-ish years old (maybe 10, don't know for sure), 16.1HH, and, obviously, a gelding. He's got such a sweet temperment, and loves to carry kids around.

He does have shoes due to rather big cracks in his front hooves, and also because he has low heels(?) I think that's what it is, I'll check and get back with that. lol

Anywho, so here he is! I'll be getting more pics up soon of us riding, and maybe a video!

Congrats on the ribbon.  He is very handsome. I love his colors and his soft eyes. I hear about how paints have bad tempermnets and to tell you the truth, I haven't seen one yet that has had a problem. All horses have  temperments and its wrong to stereo type paints. You have a good horse !!!!

    Re: Hankerdoodle! [critiques please! <3]

I've had three Paints and while one was insane (also part Saddlebred/something else, basically a mutt) my other two were curious, sweet and VERY smart.  Sometimes they may be a bit too smart and get themselves into trouble (my guy likes to pay attention to what I'm doing, the second he thinks I will ask for something twice he starts going and forgets I haven't actually asked yet, lol.), but all mine have been easy to train, good on trails and enjoy a challenge.

    Re: Hankerdoodle! [critiques please! <3]

ha, you've totally just described Hank! :P Hank is VERY smart, curious, sweet, and definetly get's into trouble. My barn has 3 stalls-two have horses in them of course- and the other stall I used to park my 4-wheeler and muck cart in. Well, there is a gate on one end of the stall, the the 4-wheeler blocks the other entrance to the stall. Somehow, Hank managed to get into the stall but couldn't get himself back out of the stall. lol He's a magician... :D And then when I'm riding, if he thinks I'm going to ask for something (maybe tuck his head or canter, or extend his trot more) he'll do it. It's kinda nice sometimes. lol He's been a blast to train!

Here are a few more videos of the other day when we were practicing. Not the best angle or lighting or quality, but it's the best I can do! :D All the same jump, 2' vertical.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=WNbReXaTlps   <---- Trotting, not cantering. The info on the right is wrong. lol

http://youtube.com/watch?v=NqxW9PSnI3w   <--- he chipped the jump a bit, we're working on getting the strides before the jump right. ^^

    Re: Hankerdoodle! [critiques please! <3]

Ya, pretty much. He likes challanging stuff like 3 foot jumps. lol Whenever things are boring (like jumping 2' consistantly) he'll overjump the jump just to be like "ha! I WIN!" lol And I don't think he was very happy with me for making him jump 'little jumps'. :P But, I'm not up to the 3' jumps yet, so he just has to be patient. :P
