    Please look and give opinions

    Hi:

I found this little filly on a website. She was pulled off a kill truck headed to Mexico.

What do you think of her(of course she's thin and filthy) do you think her topline will fill out???

And what do you think of that belly? (carrying a foal or worms).

    Thanks,

Do you have any idea how old she is?   Her legs aren't too bad and her face of course is sweet and kind, but I'm a little leery of her back as a riding horse.  There is something very odd about how far back her wither appears to be in pics 2, 3 and 5, plus that sharp dip right behind them.   That combined with the length of her back and how far out behind her her back end is would make me not very confident that she could get back to "normal" enough to be riding sound.  I'm not a rescue expert but I have looked at a lot of horses, and even deathly skinny ones still have a normal bone structure.  So I guess I would just hesistate on her if you wanted her as a riding horse.  Now if you didn't care if she was ever rideable or not, she does look like she'd be a doll and I'm already in love with her expression.  Not sure on the belly, though.

She is 2 years. Thanks for sharing your comments.  I'll have to think about this awhile.

She's 2yrs old in those pictures?  She looks younger...  Anyway, IMO, she's pretty downhill for 2.  A yearling, I'd be less concerned, but as a 2yr old paint that's a large looking gap and not much time to even back up.  I'm also not a fan of her back.  I'm not experienced with rescues and undoubtably good nutrition and conditioning can do something, I'm just not sure how much.  The belly is concerning, and is probably an indicator of worms and/or poor nutrition.  It's probably fixable with TLC, but it points to a hard life thus far and possible growth problems.  Same with her front legs; I'm not a huge fan of how her ankles and pasterns look in some of the photos.  However, she also looks like she could be way overdue for a good trim.  Fixing this could fix those angles for her; it's a bit hard to tell from the pictures.

She's certainly cute.  Especially her face.  Depends on what you are looking for?  She seems like a cute horse worth rescuing that should make a good and relatively quick recovery and be good at SOMETHING in life (at least she seems sweet and willing judging by her eye, which is not always the best indicator, but still...).  If that's what you are going for then good for you; go look at her.  If you are looking for something with potential to be your next *insert advanced performance discipline here* you may want to look elsewhere even if it's to another rescue foal.

She sure reminds me of this story...but at least she's not $20,000!

Wow, that's exactly the filly I was thinking of too.  That's such a dramatic back angle.  I sure would love to bring her home and just cuddle her though.

The picture on that website of the white yearling in front of the "normal" yearling is really telling!!  Buyer beware for sure!  Unfortunately I've found that in general the more "well known", "trustworthy", "respected" a "top level" breeder or trainer is the more unscrupulous, cheating, lying, and incredible they are :(  (just my experiences...)

I thought she looked younger too. However, they say 2.  She's a bit of a wreck that's for sure. She does have a cute face though. I'm sure someone will "adopt" her, but it probably won't be me. Thanks for your input.
