    About how many days?

Approx. how many days does a horse go before birth.  I have been told nine months but does anyone have anything more specific.  We sent our mare Trixie away to get bred beginning of June last year (my dad is pretty sure she was bred June 4th) but we're not totally sure.  We are 90% sure she is pregnant (she sure has gotten big and I don't think its a hay belly :P )and I just wanted to see if anyone can help with pinpointiing the date.  I am starting to check her udder and will take pics though there is no development yet.  I'm not expecting there to be any for a little bit but you can't be to ready I guess.

The average gestation period is 340 days - but it is considered  normal within a 325 to 355 days range.

BTW - 9 months is a human gestation period - 11 months is the usual for a horse.

340 is the "usual" date given as a due date. They can go 300-400+ days! Usually 320-350, but you never know, especially with a maiden. Minis and Egyptian Arabs tend to go around 330. So I use 330 as the due date on my minis... Casi is at 330 TODAY! Still hanging on though...

Oh yes, you are so right. I knew that but evidently my mind was not with me when I was posting this.  Thanks so much.
