A mini mule pregnant.I know it  can happen ,but its truely rare.Are vet came out to give shots and he looks at her and says she is pregnant and thst she sure looks like a donkey to him.She doesnt have many features of a donkey tho,but he's  knows better then I do. So  She started acting like she was going into foal last night.we called the vet to be safe cause she was laying and rolling and we want to be safe incase it was collic. He told us to just keep a eye on her cause it sounded like she was going into foal. well I stayed up till like 2 am watching her to make sure I dont miss nothing and she seemed to have contractions on and off. My mom watched her the rest of the night for me. At 6am I go look on her and she is up and moving around.She isnt acting her normal part ,maybe just warn out I guess. my question is  she even going to have a baby? I mean will they have contractions at night be fine a while and start over again? Do they have false contactions? I have never had a horse/donkey have a baby and this def. wasnt planned. I'm not doubting the vets knoldge,but scince we didnt make him test her for its possible she isnt.I hope she is though.

Does she show any signs of being ready to foal?  Udder bagged up and waxing?  Tailhead soft and mushy?  Belly have a pointed appearance?   The foal may have just been turning into foaling position and causing a little discomfort to your mule/donkey.  Also (I'm not sure about mules/donkeys) mares can stop labor for up to a couple of days if they don't feel comfortable and safe.  They will foal when they feel they are in a safe enviromen and that is not always what we think is safe and cosey - stall, barn, etc.  If you are in doubt, have the vet come out and examine/palpate her.  Also, have you owned her for over a year?  Has she been exposed to any stallions?  What did the vet base his diagnosis on if he did not run any tests?

I know her  bags are  filled some ,but as far as being waxy I cant tell cause she kicks out if you try to touch her. As far as know what the stallion was it could be a mini donkey  that she was with for a while.She does have the pointed apperance. I've only had her for 6 months. As far as the vet dianosis he was just giving a good guess and considering he has like 5 or 6 donkeys of his own and he is a vet, he probably knows by now what they look like when there getting close to foaling.
