Saturday I decided to ride Hubby's horse bareback. I don't think she's ever been ridden bareback because she started to jump around like I was a predator on her back. She doesn't act that way with a saddle on, though. When I was getting on her, she got antsy and I should have gotten right off but I was stupid and didn't heed the warning signs. I slid off, landed on my left foot, my knee bent to the inside and then I landed on my hip. So, I have a fractured tibia and torn ligaments in my knee. They did xrays and an MRI and tomorrow I see the orthopedist. I feel sooooooo stupid and I'm so mad at myself. I just wanted to vent to people who could appreciate my situation! Owie-owie-owie!!!!!   I hope your ortho dr. can get everything re-attached OK.  Don't feel too bad, my friend D. did the same thing to her knee when she was leading her horse back into the pasture. She tripped, fell, and apparently landed just right, or just wrong as the case may be.  Oh, and make sure your ortho doc is a good one, it took my friend 3 surgeries to finally be able to walk w/o crutches - but I think her's was worse than yours as she dislocated the knee and broke her kneecap, too.  Healing vibes coming your way through cyber space !!!

No, it's not fun. The doctor I've been referred to is the one the nurses at the urgent care said I should see because he's real good. I hope they're right! My knee is not dislocated, so that's a good thing. Thanks guys for your support!

I think I'll stick to riding only my horse bareback (with a pad, though, for a little traction) and Hubby's horse with a saddle!!

 I am sorry you got hurt. I kinda did the same thing. I was riding my horse bareback and she slipped and when we feel, she landed on my need. I only tore ligements in my knee. Luckily I didn't need surgery, but I had to wear a brace for 6 months. That really stunk!!! Hope you get better soon.

Ouch!  So sorry.  Don't be too mad at yourself........you are not alone!  I made a silly mistake once not listening to my instincts on a green horse.  But that was the last time!

Hope your injuries aren't as bad as you fear and they heal quickly!

DANG!!!  Soo sorry!  4 years ago my horse stepped on my foot and broke it!  I was in a cast for 6 weeks....then one year later, I slipped and fell and broke the same darn leg again!!!   Another 6 weeks!

 I am so sorry.  We all do things we can look back at and say, "if only".  May your healing be swift and and may your horses love you twice as much!

OUCH that sucks! I hope you feel better soon! I'm sure most of us have done something against our better judgement!
