     Forgive my being so late to catch wind of Vanny's condition, Sprag.  My heart goes out to you.  I still have tears in my eyes from reading when He got himself back up...There just arn't words sometimes...

    Oh Sprague, I'm sorry. I was hoping Vanny would pull through. You made the right choice for him. I know personally couldn't stand to see one in pain like that. He tried so hard. It often seems like the best are always so brave and you can't do anythign for them. <<<<<HUGS>>>>>>

    Sprague,

    So sorry to hear about Vanny.  It know that was a difficult decision to make, but now he is free.  Take comfort in knowing your online ES family will keep you both in our prayers.

    I want to thank each and everyone for their kind words and prayers. Y'all mean the world to me. Never in my wildest dreams would I think so many of you would be so supportive. But as you can see from so many post here that we are a very close group and we are all here for each other. Thanks again everyone.

    I am coping with my loss. It's so different going into the barn right now. Vanny's stall is all closed up. His feeding chart is still on the wall. I haven't been able to bring myself to take it down yet. His bridle and halter are still hanging up. I hugged them the other day. I went out to his grave yesterday and Scout started to run around. I think he thought I was gonna bring Vanny back to him. Poor Scout has lost his best friend. He keeps looking up there. I made a nice memory plaque with a picture of Vanny and a nice poem (thanks SH) with a lock of Vanny's mane in it. And I am trying to write down some of my fondest memories of him. That's helping me cope. Even my family can hardly believe he's gone. He's been part of the family for so long. He left a huge hole in my heart but I have the best memories and he'll always be remembered.
