    Re: Need confidence back

I'm sorry to hear about your injuries. I'm 3-weeks post-injury myself. (see my post Broke knee,Feel stupid.) I think I'm several months away from getting back on, but when I do, I'm taking the advice I've read here. I'll start with ground work and build up to riding again. I'm anxious to get back on, but I need to wait 'til I'm physically healed because I don't want my first experience back in the saddle to be a bad one. Good luck with everything!Smile

Wow, that's a horrible fall deuceschinagirl. I am glad it didn't discourage you to get back on and compete. It sure did take alot of guts for you to get things back to normal. Good Luck this season.

Yeah, it's very hard to explain it to my dad. I also told him if he has a lead on her, he can always whip her in a circle and bring her back to the smaller paddock untill she can walk nicely. I also said if that does happen if the gate is open, go back to get her and do it again until she does it right. Like I said, she doesn't do it to me anymore, so I know that what I do works. He just can't accept that. He's always right. I have noticed alot lately that he fights me tooth and nail about everything. We have a lady who boards her half blind horse, a foundered mini, and her goat. Even the farrier told him not to give the mini fresh grass. He says a little bit won't hurt him. The farrier was very offended.

    Re: Need confidence back

I think I got it. I was doing ground work with Gracie today. I kept looking at the foot high cross jump. I finally decided, I can do this. First i made her walk over it because she kept looking at it funny. After 2 or 3 times walking over it she got comfy with it. Then I said I'll try a trot. Well, I did it and I'm sooooo excited. I tried it 3 more times at the trot and she did great. I stopped her there. I was so happy, I kept hugging her and giving her kisses. Thank you all for all your help. I knew I can count on you guys for the support I needed to get back to it. I am soooo happy. I feel like I can fly.

Thank you. I am so excited. I thought for sure that she would sense how nervous I was. I guess I hid it well enough.Of course now it's suppose to rain for the next 4 days, so I can't even practice again on Sat. I hope this rain clears up soon so that I can at least ride and do flatwork.  I wish I had an indoor.

    Re: Need conifndence back

I'm so happy for you!  I know what a big relief it is to finally take that step and find that it's all okay.  Party!!!  Like you, I wish I had an indoor.  I think I'd have made much faster progress if I didn't have the long layoffs to make me worry that the horses were going feral while I was twiddling my thumbs waiting for ice to melt/ rain to stop/ the phase of the moon to be just right.  LOL  Let me share with you my own personal idiocy.  It might make you feel even better.

I think you and I have more in common than just the Great State of NJ!
