Re: Blanket size & halters
No help on the blankets, sorry.
Judging from your signature the halter just needs to be adjusted or it's a size too big. It's far too loose. It's properly adjusted on the horse in the SLT link, compare (it's too low on the nose and sort of just hanging there on Bella).
Also are you leaving it on all the time? I'd recommend you don't, and that's one really fast way to keep it from rubbing and keep her safer. If for some reason you absolutely have to keep it on her all the time please consider getting her a safety halter (leather crown) or leather turnout halter. Both are designed to break if they ever catch on something.

That picture was taken almost 3 years ago. These 2 are more recent. (She has been bathed & clipped since these pictures were taken.)

She only has her halter on when she's turned out.
Is there anything smaller than cob size that might work? Is cob size different from different companies?

Re: Blanket size & halters
It looks better in those pictures, but still maybe a little big. (there's a lot of room around the noseband, but the length looks better)
Is it the noseband that's rubbing or the cheek pieces?
I imagine different brands do fit somewhat differently. You may find that something with an adjustable noseband fits her better.
Is there a really pressing reason why you leave her halter on when she's out?
The best thing you can do is not have a halter on her when she's outside. If you must leave it on do consider getting a breakaway or leather turnout halter as I suggested before. Whether or not her current halter fits/is rubbing her it's dangerous for a regular nylon (or rope, for anyone else reading out there) halter to be left on.

Re: Blanket size & halters
My suggestion is to get a halter with an adjustable nose, and a leather crown. I have used the halter that you have, as I was told it was great for a horse with a sensative nose, that even when only using the halter for grooming etc, she would get the hair rubbed off of her nose. The one you have pictured mad the rubbing worse than a plain nylon one. I would suggest just a plain Nylon. if you can go to a shop and feel them thats even better, try and look for the softest one that you can find. I found one made by Weaver that is super soft, and I haven't had any problems since using this one, but you have to be careful, some are rather rough, and some buttery soft. The other suggestion is to use fleece tubes, but to always make sure that they are clean, and nothing ends up in them, as that can be even more irritataing to the skin.
A suggestion to get hair to grow back, MTG. It smells awful, but I have had good luck with it.

You can also toss the halter in a pillow case and toss it in the washer. You can use a little fabric softener, but if you do make sure to rinse at least twice, and no soap. That can soften them up, but it also fades them, you have been warned! (This applies to nylon only halters, no idea what it would do to the ones with the "padding" on the inside that looks rubber or neoprene).
I've personally had good luck with Hamilton in terms of fit, adjustability, and durability, but that was many many moons ago (invested in a nice leather halter and never looked back!) Weaver is a good company too but I've only used their leather stuff (have a Weaver headstall).

Re: Blanket size & halters
The nose isn't rubbing at all, its the upper cheek ring & crown piece.
She's boarded now, so its easier for the staff to leave the halter on her. When I move her to our place in Maine, I'm not going to leave her halter on when she's out.
I checked her halter fit today, and the nose is quite loose. I could probably fit my whole hand in between it and her nose. I am going to look into getting her another halter.

Have you considered turnout collars instead of halter? It's more like a dog collar, and if your horse has good manners, you can lead them by it, but it's much less likely to snag on something so is safer, while still providing an easy "catch" for the handlers. Plus, you can hang an ID tag with your phone # on it.

Re: Blanket size & halters
I was looking in the country supply catalog and it says for blankets if you measure from middle of chest to middle of rear and it's 66" go to the next size up. So you would get a 67. i hope this helps.

Re: Blanket size & halters
Yes, I've thought of turnout collars, but she can be a bit spooky sometimes, and has been known to take off when something frightens her. She's gotten a lot better. Now, she'll just start to trot and I'll make a circle until she calms down. As long as I have a chain across her nose, she's good to lead.
So for the one who measures 66", and the sheet comes in that size, then that's the size I get. Right? And the other is 67", but it only comes in 66" or 68", so I get her the 68".
The other sheet comes in 66", which would work for that pony. But the next size up from that is 69". Would that be okay for the 67" pony?
