    Deer Horse

Wanted to plant a garden this year and am considering various alternatives for deer proofing.  We've thought of 8 foot high fencing, or planting what deer won't (rhubard), etc.  But first, I've noticed that the deer around here mix it in with the cows but not with horses in their pastures.

Is that observation somewhat valid?  Because if so, then I can plant my garden in a spot completely surrounded by horse paddocks and the arena.  It is also besides the poop pile, which in itself may be a deterent to deer.

    Re: Deer Horse

I have seen deer graze with horses many times, so I don't think that is a behavioural rule.  But you can always give it a shot.  Now MY horse likes to chase deer out of his pasture, but he's just....special.

OK, I guess we're going to have to go with the rhubard.  Thanks for the first hand observations!
