    Hallmark Insurance

Anyone have experience with them? They seem to have a pretty good quote, don't you think?

    $232 mortality (@ $8000 value, guaranteed extension 12mos)

$275 major medical ( $7500 limit plus free colic surgery up to $3000)

    $507 total

    Thanks,

    Nicole

Thanks.  :)  I was trying to look up companies from previous posts, and I saw yours about Cassel so I asked for a quote on them too.

$298 mortality (@ $8500 value, No free colic coverage, but 12mo extension)

$250 major medical (Didn't say deductible so can't compare.. I just emailed them to ask)

    $548 total

Hallmark seems like a good deal, but I'm just worried about a catch with Hallmark or bad reputation or something... I've never done this before, so any help is appreciated!

    Re: Hallmark Insurance

Just from experience, most major equine insurers are nearly identical when it comes to cost for mortality/major medical, it's what they'll actually cover that varies.

They usually charge X to instill the policy, and another X per every 1,000 the horse is insured for....I can't remember these numbers (my trainer is fabulous at rambling them off), but really, they're extremely similar for most major companies. Of course, there's always other little things that can get thrown in there, (for example, I get charged extra for paying 4x a year instead of paying in a lump sum, etc)

What you need to look for is one with a good reputation, that is hassle-free and won't charge you extra for guaranteed renewal. I use Markel for the Cita, as does about half of our barn, and we've never encountered any problems with them.

I don't drink coffee sir. I don't drink any hot liquids. That's the devil's temperature.

Would you say Hallmark is major?  They seem to be pretty big to me, but I really have NO idea when it comes to insurance.  I will ask my trainer what company she recommends, but I want to get as many opinions as possible.

     Thanks!
