Poor guy! I hate my bed too!
I too am looking at stall mats and am in confusion about them. I figure its all going to boil down to the fact that shipping is going to be a financial pain and I'll have to get them locally anyway. I'm atleast trying to be smart about it.
Another thought would be to ask about the balance of the trim in his feet. Does he drag his toes otherwise? A long toe will drag cause its in the way and when he breaks over it to lift it off the ground, it will jam all the way up the line to hip and spine. So that may be something worth investigating, and not just for the bedtime hours.
Hopefully a discussion will get going on here and we can learn more about mats. I'm leaning towards mats that fit together like puzzle pieces and they say that the horse won't separate them...like to hear some feedback on that one. Another biggie with me is if they can be cut for a custom fit and I'm thinking....not recycled rubber if I want them to last.
I'm wondering if mat requirements are different for different floors. Mine are dirt, yours are concrete...hmmm.
A good question would be...what design of mat would deal with dryness and drainage the best. Are all the companies addressing this the same way or what?
