Can you submit photos for possible inclusion?

I believe you can.  Check out the Jumping Clinic page in Practical Horseman to be sure...I'm at work right now and don't have an issue with me.

    You can submit prints to

    Jumping Clinic

    Practical Horseman

656 Quince Orchard Rd., Suite 600

    Gaithersburg, MD 20878

Please make sure they are horizontal, at least 4x6 inches and in focus. If the photo was professionally taken, please include the photographer's name and contact info, if known. The photos should be actual prints and NOT printed from your home computer.

Hi! I emailed you a while back, but my name is Stephanie and I sent in a photo, meeting the requirements, and I was wondering if you guys are ever going to use my photo?

    HI Stephanie,

Sorry if we didn't get back to you. I don't remember receiving an email.

I'm not sure when you sent the photo, but we have about a 3-year backlog. We use photos in the order in which they're received.

    Happy riding and reading!

    Stacey,

When you say the photos shouldn't be printed from a home computer, does this include prints on nice photo paper from a photo printer? If so, are prints from Walgreen's and the like okay?

    Thanks,
    Annabel

     Hi Annabel,

Prints from Walgreens etc are fine. We just prefer they're not done on a home printer as the quality is not always the best for reprinting in the magazine.

    Best,

    Stacey

Do you have to have a copyright for the photo if it was professionally taken?

    Stacey,

Will we be informed if our photo is accepted and is going to be used at some point?

    Thanks,
    Annabel

We will generally try to send back your photo with a note telling you what issue it is appearing in. I emphasize "try" because people sometimes move between the time they send in their photo and when it's published. Right now there's a 3+ year backlog of photo (we send them to George in the order in which they're received).

    TomBahama,

Good question. Yes, we do need to have a credit if the photo was professionally taken. It's often on the back of the print or signed on the front. We need this info because it is copyright infringement to publish an image that's taken by a professional without requesting permission in writing first. We take care of all of that, so that's why we need at least a name if not an address/email.
