I wish you could be there too!
The Kat update for today is a big one. I called her in from the pasture and started playing with her. She was very relaxed today so I decided I was going to see exactly how far I could go. I got a saddle pad out and put that on her. Then I went in and got one of the light weight saddles. I asked her to touch it and she was really shy about it at first. But once she did I treated her and swung it up on her back. I spent several moments tugging and moving it around and clicking and rewarding. Then I cinched it up slowly. I stepped away and let her move around on her own. When she took a step she got kind of scared and spun around a few times but then realized that it was not going to hurt her. I went back to her and clipped a lead on her halter and lead her out to the round pen. Once we got out there I let her loose and she moved around a little. She was tense and kept her head really high at first but after a few times around she dropped her head and relaxed. She was wonderful! I only asked her to work for a few minutes and then unsaddled her and lead her back to the barn to eat. I put her in Lilys old stall and she ate her dinner. When she was done I was letting everyone out and was using her stall as the exit. She went into the main part of the barn and got her old stall door open. I let all the others out and then went to get her. She said No, I'm staying in tonight. We had turned the fan on in that stall earlier and she discovered she really liked it. I told her wild mustangs dont enjoy AC, lol. So I brought her some hay and untangled her mane out and gave her a good brush down. I am so proud of her. She has come such a long way since the first day when she charged me because she didn't want me anywhere near her!
I ride high in the saddle, always saddle my own horse
still I'm every inch a lady from the outside to the core
I take the trail less traveled `cause I know where it leads
I live my life by the cowgirl creed

As for me and my horse, we will ride for the Lord!
