Wasn't the Derby incredible?!?! Second biggest upset in Derby history! And, man, you could not have written a more dramatic story. I don't know if ya'all saw it, but Mine That Bird was a 50-1 longshot who was purchased for $9,500. His trainer had a broken ankle/foot, I think they said that he had 12 bones smashed and held together by screws, etc. (it was a motorcycle accident). The trainer had also trailered the horse himself, all the way from New Mexico. Talk about an underdog story! And his jockey, Calvin Borell (is that it?) just won the Oaks yesterday aboard Rachel Alexandra. He was so excited and emotional and genuine, it was great to see. To me, it sounds like one of those amazing stories that some author will grab ahold of, write a best-seller out of it, sell the movie rights, etc.
