I have been reading the forum for a while and just signed up.  I have owned horses most of my adult life but I just saw an amazing video on the following blog of a foal being born in the pasture that I wanted to share.  If you have not witnessed a mare foaling, now is your chance.  It is amazing to watch - at one point the mare in foal actually gets up to follow the herd (not wanting to be left alone) - the herd realizes this and stops - waiting and watching until the foal is born and the mother encourages the baby to stand. Wow - what a great video - I have watched foal birthing videos in the stall but this is the first time I have seen a foal born in a pasture.  The herd mentality was fasinating to watch. Thanks
