We brought home 72, and ate some while we were there. Yummy! Killed about 3 cases of beer, got my new feeder set up, and saw some deer at it the next morning. Smile I'm anxiously awaiting the opening of deer season! Laugh
We didn't end up going anywhere other than to the lease and back. Sorry to hear you were puny, hope you're better now. Laugh

Maybe you could get JR a little donkey friend(if it's ok with your friend). They are easy keepers, and will keep any stray dogs/coyotes out of the pasture.

I have a feeling that her daughter will end up with a horse as well, part of the reason for me taking him over there is to teach Rachel the basics of horse care and then if she's interested, she'll take lessons and possibly get a horse for Christmas.

Oh! Forgot to post about that. I got the saddle on Friday and spent about 2 hours evaluating it on Madonna on the ground that night. I had about 5 pages of notes to make sure I was looking at everything you are supposed to look at! LOL! So it looked like it fit Ok, a little snug, but I thought that might change once it was broken in a little to her shape.

So I rode in it. NO go. I felt like it was tipping backwards and it was obviously pinching her b/c she was all over the place. Weaving around, head high. Then when I asked her to canter, she bucked. So, I decided to call it a night and try again the next day. I thought maybe she might just not be in the mood to ride at 10:00 at night.

So I tried it again Saturday... same result. It slid forward up on her shoulders, spit the saddle pad out the back, UGH!! When I took the saddle off after about 15 min, there were dry and ruffled hairs .. same spot. The saddle was in awesome shape. Little hard to sit on but not unbearable. Very sad.

I'm through playing these games. I've contacted Duett Saddles (www.duettsaddles.com) which are great and are made for mutton withered, wide horses. And I've made a wither tracing to send them. I'm getting a saddle to fit this horse some way, some how!!!! Stick out tounge Smile

I can't believe the trouble you're having! I sure hope you manage to find SOMETHING that works! I am more thankful now that the Crosby I got fits the Big Ugly really well!

(when does the western one come in?.... almost afraid to ask!?)

    Re: Tolerance

LOL! She just has NO withers. It's not enough that her back is as wide as the atlantic but she is just FLAT. You know the bone that makes the withers, withers? She doesn't really have one, period!! Confused Confused Confused

Everything sits on her muscle on the sides and just digs in. Too narrow. This Duett company makes saddles up to 40 cm wide!!! They are going to send me a couple to try once I get them the (no) wither tracing which I forgot today! DAMN!

Western one should be here today. **hiding eyes** Give me strength!!!! Smile

I'll cross my fingers that the western one works! Hopefully! What a PITA! Have you given thought to teaching her how to drive? ROFL....
