I own  my first blue-eyed horse a beautiful 8 year old overo gelding that is my dreamhorse. He is straight out of a Bev Doolittle painting and is just a sweetheart. We have done drill, Mounted Orienteering, lots of trails and he is the perfect camper. I love the blue eyes. I prefer two blue eyes to one blue one brown. Eyeliner or not the blue eyes are magical !!!!

#1 for me to. I actually prefer one of each, I like brown eyes to, but I prefer the eyes to, at the very least have eye liner, but surounded by color is even better. Of my current two horses, my horse has one of each, my only complaint is about her brown eye, it has to much white showing and it makes her look ill tempered. My other horse, a mini, has two blue eyes, w/ a completely white face and no eye liner. Other then those two my family's other horse also has one of each (and his brown eye is much nicer then my girls), and the pony I just sold had a partial blue eye.

Honestly the eye color would be the last thing I'd worry about when shopping for a horse, but I do consider it a bonus when the horse has a blue eye!

And just FYI, I've never found blue eyes to have more problems, it's the pink eye lids and white faces that just happen to usually also come w/ blue eyes that tend to have more problems, nothing to do w/ the eye color. And those white faced, pink eye lids could just as easily have brown eyes. In fact my spotted mule has a competely white face and brown eyes, and needs a fly mask to protect her sinsitive pink skin.

I'm a #5.  A blue-eyed horse looks really creepy to me.....like they have nothing inside their head.  They look like they are looking right thru you to the view beyond and don't even see you standing there....like they are blind.  Never liked anything but lovely chocolate brown eyes on horses or dogs.  I would never look twice at a blue-eyed horse if I were buying a horse.  That would be my first consideration if I was looking at paints.  When I ride with someone who has a horse with one blue eye, I always position myself on the brown eye side.  I don't like looking into that cold blue.....something sneaky going on in there.  Sorry, even if I am the only one, I vote no, no, no, to equine blue eyes!

1.RHAPSODY IN BLUE. I LOVE blue eyes on horses. That eye color really makes a horse stand out.

    2. BLUES: CAN USE. Eye color makes no difference to me as long as the horse itself fits my needs.

I'm torn between 1 & 2. I love blue eyes but its not something I have to hold out on haha

I have a beautiful buckskin mare who had a mamma with one blue eyes & she mainly took after her mustang daddy but if you look closely in her left eye (not on the pupil obviously haha) she has a small speck of blue it, so pretty & it something I love about her very much

I go for #2. Used to have a blue-eyed horse (that went blind), but to me the horse is what matters more than eye color.

    5. BLUE? NO CAN DO. Sorry, but a blue-eyed horse just turns me off

I'm boring.  I like plain brown (or bay or black) wrappers too.

I see my thighs have grown since the last time I wore these breeches........

Yea!  Finally someone who agrees with me on blue-eyed horses!  I can never understand why you would want to trade the beauty in a large dark brown eye for a blind-looking blue one.  We have at least five blue-eyed or one blue-eye paints at the barn and while I love the look of the horse's bodies, their eyes and faces are just plain spooky to me.  I also like the brown, bay, or black wrappers too.  Although I have seen some beautiful palaminos around.....deep golden and dappled.  :-)  BTW, I don't think we are "boring".....more like classic!

#1. My 2 1/2 yr old paint horse has a beautiful bald face with one blue and one brown eye. His blue eye really catches peoples attention not the mention the fact that he is proving to be a reliable trail horse.

    2) I could care less what color his eyes are, as long as he can see!

I have a very nice paint gelding currently with 2 glass eyes.  And I knew that he would have them when I bred my mare to his sire.
