    Have You Ever Done This?

On another board, I posted a question that received a couple of responses that I thought were rude and patronizing. Rather than indulge in a flame war, I copied them into Word, turned on my my personal snark button, and answered them the way I really felt. I'm not going to post it or PM them or anything and will delete it in a day or two after I've savored it enough. It's childish, I know, but boy did it make me feel better. Just wondered if anybody else had ever done anything like that. Sometimes people seem to intentionally read things the wrong way, or just assume if they don't understand you, you must be a moron.

I usually shove my foot in my mouth and post my snarky responses for all to read. LOL.

I just try and let it go - the way you're responding to it is very mature in my eyes, it's letting your feelings out without sinking to their level!

On another board, I had posted a 45 second riding video for a critque when I was VERY green to the canter, and the one very experienced woman said she "checked my videos to make sure it wasn't a fluke" and that I "honestly looked like a bag of potatoes in the saddle," "your legs swing as a green rider's would." HELLO! I am a green rider! People can critque, but some just take it to a raw point. Ignore it and move on : ).

i do this with texts all the time.

i'll read something that really pisses me off like in an arguement with a guy. i'll hit a new message and type what i really wanna say (honest response) then let it sit in my drafts for a minute or two while i have time to think about is this actually how i want to respond.

usually it results in me deleting it and starting over after i have cooled off.

I've done this a lot, too.  Sometimes (if it's a facebook thing), I'll realize it's out of line after I've hit send, so then I go back and delete.

Yes, I have done the same thing.  I always try to think through what I say, especially when writing/texting/etc.  Things can so easily be misinterpreted.

But sometimes I still end up sticking my foot in my mouth.  Still, I think people get really bold on the internet and don't think through or even care how they come across to other people.  What they don't realize is that the things you say or do on the internet can always come back to haunt you.

Now that is just plain mean! You have to wonder if some folks have ever heard of the Golden Rule.
