    Yeah!! New Farm!!!

Yes, we have left our farm -- management had gone to crap, lies were being told, even the "trainer's" clients were spreading malicious false rumours about us non-clients.  It was time to get out.  Which I tried to do gracefully, but the BO still felt it necessary to send me a nasty email with all the juvenile snottiness of a 15-year-old.  He pretty much sent that bridge up in flames, but oh well, I had no interest in maintaining any contact with a business that sent lame horses through lessons, didn't address problems, and treated us like five year olds.

New farm!  Through the wonderful network of eventers, I found a beautiful private farm not three miles from my house -- OMG, I am in mad barn love.  The owner is very nice and pretty laid back.  She is a clean freak, I swear she sweeps out the tack room every five minutes, but as I myself am guilty of some serious OCD, I can't hold it against her, LOL.  There are two or three other boarders, everyone is so friendly and welcoming.  Solo can FINALLY be out 24/7, he only comes in to eat then goes right back out!!!!  We have hot water in the wash rack!!!  We have footing that never gets muddy!!!!  We have wonderful vinyl fencing with no wire to be found!!!!  No rocks, no concrete, no rusty nails laying around!  And we can go across the street if we really want to use an indoor arena for just a day fee -- although I doubt I will be doing much of that, I can only think of maybe three or four days in the past year when I really WANTED to be in our old covered arena.  Oh, and I can bring whatever trainers, farriers, vets I want and no one will get their panties in a twist!!!!!  How I love people who are not insecure....

    Without further ado.....

    The lovely little barn

    Making ourselves at home....

Solo enjoying the new pasture (he has girlfriends and he LOVES it!)

Arena (and we still have lights for after work riding, woohoo!)

A shot of our jumps, looking back towards the house...

Wow Solo - the new place looks wonderful!  The barn looks very nicely kept and that pasture is to die for.  Annapolis is jealous, I just know it.

I'm sure you'll be very happy there.

Very nice. Makes our barn look super ghetto. Is the board there pretty reasonable?

Surprisingly, yes, the BO was quite happy to work with our budget, so it's the same as the old place, pretty cheap for full facilities (under $400, I promised I wouldn't tell exactly how much).  Big Smile

That is a very nice-looking place. I am so jealous of your 3-mile commute! How do they keep those jumps looking so perfect? Congratulations on finding a gem like this.

Aw what a nice place! How far away was the old barn?  I sure hope the owners of this new barn really like you, bc I bet you won't ever leave! lol

    little house in the backround

Wow, I know I am all poor and country, but that isn't a little house to me!  Oooh! lets all start a new bragging rights post with our barn pics? nah, me, my boyfriend and my mom built my little barn by hand all on our own, and so it doesn't look that great, nevermind!

Way to go Solo, and let's see some pics of you and your pretty boy going over those jumps!

Hahahhah, no way, those jumps aren't set for me!

And no, the house isn't very little, LOL, but not overstated either, just very nice details.  Gorgeous on the inside -- yes, the kind of house I will never live in!

OK, I am packing my bags and moving to NC!! I love the metal pre-fab barns -- there was one at my last farm that was very similar to that one, only a bit bigger (too bad the new owners were total jerks who knew nothing about horses).

Congrats on the new digs! I'm sure you and Solo will be very happy there. And, yes, you will love the "commute" -- I am exactly 2.6 miles from my current barn and it makes a huge difference.

Ok,ok, pretty nice house in the backround sound better?Smile

Anyway, I have always wanted to see your part of the country Solo, as it's beautiful (and not flat!)

    Re: Yeah!! New Farm!!!

Oh you will be so happy you have moved. I moved from my old barn about two years ago and I have not once regretted it. I left a facility that had a huge jumping arena, cross country fields and dressage courts. It was a beautiful facility but the BO bought the cheapest grass hay imaginable. In the winter time, Vodka looked like complete crap. He lost weight and his coat was always dull. Her idea was to just give the horses more grain. Never worked for us. I've moved with my trainer to her property and the headaches are gone. Our horses get beautiful Grass hay that has a 20% alfalfa base(which costs 28.50 a bale) and they get forage for lunch. No one is skinny. The horses get very little grain unless they need it and she blankets as well. No sickly looking horses and no horses are eating junk. I recently found out that a friend of mine at the old barn had to put her horse down. He had to have colic surgery due to furmented grain in his stomach. He had surgery but didn't make it through. I was sad to hear it happen to her and wish she would have left when we did. It's not worth risking your horses health or your happiness. Im glad Solo likes his new home. I love the jumps out there. Im jelous. It's been forever since I've jumped!! You can't go wrong with 24/7 turnout either.

What a beautiful place, and sounds so wonderfully laid back.

I am so jealous of you not needing a covered arena. After some slight snow flurries and lots of rain, I'm considering a move to NC, lol!

Wow!!  Hmmmm.... I have cousins in NC, maybe I'll have to move in with them...  I'm getting a little jealous since I'm out in the wild wild west now.  Not an English saddle in sight...

I love how Solo is just a little redish-brown dot out in that pasture, perfect!
