    I rode Annapolis today!

It's been glorious weather this weekend.  I was gardening yesterday, but Eric and I went over to the barn today. Something made me put Annapolis' saddle and bridle in the car. I wanted to be able to ride if he looked like he was up for it.

I haven't ridden him since January 1 this year -- his 30th birthday, so I wondered how he'd react to being ridden again.  But he was very good.  I rode him in the arena for a while, doing a bit of walking and trotting (my legs were all over the place at the trot) then Eric walked with me as I rode the pathway that goes around the farm I board at.

Brody has put in some very inviting cross country jumps, but since I was on a 30 yr old horse in a dressage saddle and without a helmet I walked around them instead (yeah, I know, BAD JAYNE - but my helmet had seen better days and was never quite the same after Annapolis dumped me last Thanksgiving and  I just never got around to replacing it)

I love the way he perked his ears, paying great attention to everything going on around him, especially parts of the farm he doesn't usually see from his pasture.

I felt like he was enjoying our ride as much as I was Smile

Sounds like a wonderful ride, I'm glad that you, Annapolis, and Eric could share it together.

It's rides like that one that really remind us why our horses are so amazing.

I bet he was!  I think when you have a relationship with the horse that your rides can be really enjoyable for everybody.

I ride high in the saddle, always saddle my own horse
still I'm every inch a lady from the outside to the core
I take the trail less traveled `cause I know where it leads
I live my life by the cowgirl creed

As for me and my horse, we will ride for the Lord!

That's fantastic Jayne.  He's seems such a grand older gentleman.  Bet he misses you riding him as much as you do.

Heaven would no heaven be, were a horse not waiting there for me.
