It's been glorious weather this weekend. I was gardening yesterday, but Eric and I went over to the barn today. Something made me put Annapolis' saddle and bridle in the car. I wanted to be able to ride if he looked like he was up for it.
I haven't ridden him since January 1 this year -- his 30th birthday, so I wondered how he'd react to being ridden again. But he was very good. I rode him in the arena for a while, doing a bit of walking and trotting (my legs were all over the place at the trot) then Eric walked with me as I rode the pathway that goes around the farm I board at.
Brody has put in some very inviting cross country jumps, but since I was on a 30 yr old horse in a dressage saddle and without a helmet I walked around them instead (yeah, I know, BAD JAYNE - but my helmet had seen better days and was never quite the same after Annapolis dumped me last Thanksgiving and I just never got around to replacing it)
I love the way he perked his ears, paying great attention to everything going on around him, especially parts of the farm he doesn't usually see from his pasture.
I felt like he was enjoying our ride as much as I was
