Anyone planning on going to WEG?

AND.....who are you hoping to see from the US compete, if you're going to be there or not?  Jumpers?  Dressage?  Eventing?

I am hoping to see Amy Tryon for the eventing and Jennifer Schrader-Williams on H S Wistar for dressage :)

I see my thighs have grown since the last time I wore these breeches........

I am going to WEG 2010.  I have tickets for both sessions of the Grand Prix Special Dressage and the Grand Prix Freestyle Dressage.

As far as who I hope to see from the US, I haven't really thought about it yet except for Steffen Peters on Ravel.  I don't know Jennifer Schrader-Williams.  I will look her up online tonight.

OK, looked up Jennifer S-W and I have seen her online before.  It would be fun to see her at WEG but I don't know if she is up to that level yet.  Another one who is probably in the same category is Adrian Lyle on Felix.  She is Debbie McDonalds protege.  I would love to see them at WEG but we will have to see how they do this next year.

twotrudoc, I would love to see you there.  I was listenening to the selection process for the the USA dressage team today on one of my DressageRadio podcasts.  It will be interesting to see who makes it.  The top 15 high scoring riders in the USA will all go to Gladstone and compete next Aug.  Supposedly the top 4 at that competition will be the team and the 5th highest scorer will be the reserve.  I'm pretty sure that Steffen Peters and Ravel  will be grandfathered in regardless as long as both are healthy since they were the World Champion pair this year.

LOL, I am not so good with patience either.  It is making me crazy that I can't book my flight yet.  Have to wait until 330 days before the return I guess.  I am trying to be good and not just explode about going to WEG but yes it is still over 11 months away.

I just bought tickets for the team jumping finals and for the cross country portion of eventing. I would love to see so much more but dang it is expensive. Even though I'm living in Washington right now my family is from southern Ohio so we go to the Rolex pretty often. They had the new stadium up this past year and it is really nice. I'm very excited.

I'm in Lakewood Washington just a little south of Tacoma. I've only been here a little over a month so I'm still learning my way around.

Re: Anyone planning on going to WEG?

If you haven't bought tickets, you can save yourself a lot of money by just going to Rolex instead!  Avoid the ridiculous WEG price gouging and you will see the same world-class competitors (for eventing anyway) as you will at WEG.  Plus Rolex occurs every year so marketers can't suck you in with the lure of "you'll miss it!"  2010's Rolex will also be held over the course as redesigned for the WEG anyway.

Solaris you are right that the tix for WEG are ridiculously expensive but I am willing to pay it for the experience.  I don't get a chance every year to see dressage riders of this caliber all competing in one place.  I am just sucking it up and counting this as a once in a lifetime experience.
