Star [*] December Horse of the Month Contest

It's time for the December Horse of the Month contest.

It's open to all forum members and to enter all you have to do is upload up to three photos of the horse you want to nominate to the December Horse of the Month Gallery.

It should be a horse that you own, lease, or perhaps take lessons on.  Please include the name of the horse in the photo -- so mine would be annapolis1.jpg, annapolis2.jpg etc.

We'd love to hear about your horse too, and why you think he or she deserves to be Horse of the Month, so feel free to add some text in the description when you upload your photo and tell us about what makes your horse special. If you prefer, once you have posted your photo, you can reply to this thread to tell us about your horse.

Entries can be posted through November 22, so you have two weeks to get your entries in. Voting will start November 23 and the winner will be announced November 30. Hopefully that will give everyone time to vote, around the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Once a horse has won in a particular month, that horse will not be eligible to enter for twelve months.  However, if you have more than one horse and one wins one month, you don't have to wait before entering another horse.

The winner will have their winning horse's photo framed with a blue ribbon in the December HOTM gallery and the winning photo will also be featured in the EquiSearch.com newsletter.

I might not be looking in the right place, but I don't see an "Add pictures" link.

Hmmm, that may be why no one has entered yet.  Let me play around with the permissions and see if I can fix it.

    Thanks for letting me know.

This is Jayne, I created another account without admin rights so I could test it.

There should be 4 boxes on the right -- This Gallery, This Gallery (different info), Popular Tags and Common Tasks.

Add Picture should be in the Common Tasks.

That's what I can see using this account, not sure why you're not seeing it.  Grrrrr.

    Jayne,

That did it. There is a common tasks box now with add pictures in it. Maybe there's a glitch in your administrator controls.

Re: December Horse of the Month Contest

I will be entering Rascal tonight.  He is my 24 yr young Morab gelding.  He was my very first official horse, and I have had him for 12 years.  He taught me how to be patient, love, and stick to a horse while they are flying through the air like a terrified cat.  He taught my two rescue horses how to be loved by people, and he is now working very hard on teaching my colt and my new mare some manners.  Any time that anything is wrong, I can talk to him, and he will stand very patiently and let my blubber into his mane until I am done. My 28-29ish rescue gelding's health is failing, and Rascal not only watches out for him, but keeps me from breaking down. He is finally starting to show his age, but he is still the first to the gate, follows me around like a dog, and can out run any of the other horses (TB mare included).  He is my support, and I don't know what I would do without him.

I will try to get his pics up when I get home and am on my own computer, but I thought I would go ahead and brag about my boy on here first! Big Smile

I'd like everyone to vote for Mystic. He's been gone now for about a yr and a half. He was a golden champaign naturally gaited (No mechanical or chemical means used.) Tennessee Walking Horse stallion with a wicked sense of humor, not to mention a serious mud bogger as well. Both traits demonstrated by the famous Caught in the Act pic. His full handsomeness by the other 2 pics. He was very willing. Even helped me out when I didn't know how to balance properly with my scoliosis. A month or so after I got him, he got loose. I saw him walking down the farm driveway, but when I yelled out "Mystic!! Come back here!!" He turned around and came back. I think that's when I knew that he and I clicked. Just wish we would have had more time together. There are weekends when I wish he was still here.

Great story Frank.  Mystic sounds like he was a real character.

There's still time to enter, if anyone else would like to.

I'm going to enter Annapolis, just to mix it up a bit Devil
