    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Yeah, I haven't been on as often, so I have more catching up to do when I'm here!

You're almost at your goal, hurrah! That's fantastic that you're so close!

My garden is doing geat, got to eat some lettuce the other day, tomatoes are making small green tomatoes, but the plants are like waist high, so I'll be up to my ears in the things soon enough! Have a couple blueberries, peas, and currants ripening, and the zuchs and cukes are blooming. The fruit trees won't bear this year, but they're leafy and happy looking, so I think they'll do fine where they are.

Yellow tomato plants could be too much water, or too little, or not enough food, or all sorts of things, unfortunately. From here, your guess is better than mine!

We've got more Western than English around here, too, and tons of Quarterhorses everywhere, but fortunately there are still quite a few good English riders and trainers. I finally have a triner I like for H/J as well as one I like for dressage, which is nice. There's got to be someone around you, too. Good luck and have fun looking for one!

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Sounds like lots of veggies at your house!! I was thinking too much water cause the leaves aren't green and wilty like when they are dry. So it is having less water, and I started feeding it...so we will see, it sucks cause there is lots of tomatoes on it!
I am going to look for a trainer, but not I am not being very active about it! I will see at the next couple of shows I go to.
Have a fun weekend! It's supposed to be hot here this weekend, glad I decided to give wolf the day off on saturday as I have ridden all week!

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Hello ladies, phew what a busy week I had last week! Was jetting off all over the country. Hoping things will be a bit calmer this week, although who knows!

I have stayed the same weight wise, but after my extremely difficult lesson yesterday where I sweated buckets (as did Henry!) I am hoping a few pounds will fall by the end of the week! Am schooling for a show on Sunday, combined training: dressage and cross country. Will be the first time I have shown Henry at dressage! oo-er! The test is sooo simple though so there's less chance I might forget it and less chance of Henry getting his legs tied in a knot.

My new sig I thought was a rather cool arty type photo from my lesson yesterday - Henry was going particularly well, very soft and round as you can hopefully see!

So here are some pics of my new pony Freddie! He's been here 2 weeks and seems like he's been here years already. I used him for a lesson with my new 8 year old pupil on Saturday and he was good as gold for her. First time on a pony and she was doing rising trot by the end of 40 minutes!! Anyway, here he is (terrible photos!! He's not keen on the camera!), he's who know's what age, has cateracts in both eyes and is filling out nicely now he's getting some decent hay:

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

I think busy weeks are a good way for the week to go by quickly and get to the weekend faster!!
Well luckily I stayed the same weight, had lots to eat this weekend, as we went for lunch for my brothers birthday.
Those pictures are lovely, Henry looks good and Freddie is cute. Glad to hear that he is working out.
Got to get ready for a dressage schooling show this next weekend and we get a three day weekend yippee!! THen the week after is the next horse trials! can't wait!!!
The combined training we used to do was dressage and sj, but I like the sound of xc much better!!

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Adorable pony! Sounds like quite the trooper. And everyone's getting some good productive lessons, which is great.

Gem and I had a wonderful hack on Saturday, went with a friend to a hilly park full of birch trees, but had to cancel our parade plans. When I went to hook up the trailer, the truck was making an odd noise, not terribly dramatic, but I'm a huge worrier, so I wasn't about to chance it! So my horse was bathed, and primped, and then turned out to play in the mud. Quite the round of bad luck around here, though Stan seems to be recovering from his abcess nicely.

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Yup, tons of veggies around here! And I'm still at the same weight <sigh>

Sounds like you've got a busy summer planned! This was going to be my busy month, but a lot of stuff got cancelled. And I'm pretty much planning on lessoning and hacking until September or so. I hate dressing up! Grin

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

I don't know what the heck happened to my weight. I got back from visiting Eric's family a couple of weeks ago, got on the scales and they were exactly what they had been before -- 134 lbs. Next day... 137!!! And it's been 136/137 since then.

Perhaps the pizza and cheesecake have something to do with it...

Anyway, this weekend, I didn't indulge at all and I'll try and keep on track now, because I'm going on vacation in a couple of weeks.

    Peta,
Do you know who is all in the World Equestrian Games for GB? Do you know if there are any websites specifially for GB and the games???
Thanks, I was looking on equisearch and it mentioned the U.S. team members so made me think about GB.
I will be interested to see if we have any on tv, I can guarantee we won't get as much coverage as the football!!

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

This is all I could find so far:

The squad is : William Fox-Pitt (37), with Tamarillo (by Tarnik); Mary King (44) and Call Again Cavalier (by Cavalier Royal), and Zara Phillips (24) and Toytown (unknown sire).

There are a further six remaining places for team members who will be selected no later than the middle of June.

Am interested to hear if Ollie Townend gets selected, and SO pleased that Zara is on the team! I do know that Jeanette Brakewell is NOT part of the team though as I read an article about her last night.

Football is taking over here! ARGHHHHH!!!!! Smile

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Yup, so far so good! Here's what I found about the dressage team, still nothing on SJ though..

The British Dressage selectors (David Trott and Judy Harvey) have announced the riders who will represent Great Britain at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, 20th August – 3rd September 2006. They are:

Laura Bechtolsheimer (Gloucestershire) riding Dr W Bechtolsheimer’s 17.2hh liver chestnut gelding Douglas Dorsey
Wayne Channon (East Sussex) riding his own & Mrs D Channon’s 16.3hh black stallion Lorenzo CH
Emma Hindle (Cheshire), riding Brookhouse Stud's 16.2hh brown stallion, Lancet
Sandy Phillips (Gloucestershire) riding her own 17hh brown mare Lara 106.
    Reserves:

Maria Eilberg (Worcestershire) riding Two Sox
Ferdi Eilberg (Worcestershire) riding Teutone Z
Emile Faurie (Oxfordshire) riding Rascher Hopes.

    Try www.equestrian.co.uk for updates...?!

Zara Phillips is Princess Anne's daughter, she lives local to me at Gatcombe Park (where the horse trials are!). She's fab - she won at Blenheim last year in torrential rain, her round was the fastest clear cross country then she did an AMAZING clear over the show jumps the next day, blooming awesome!! She goes out with Mike Tindall who plays rugby for England and our local club, Gloucester!

I hope Heather etc, don't mind me hijacking the thread with all the WEG GB gossip!!

Of course I don't mind. Laugh I should really be painting my bathroom, and scrubbing Gem (he's got a touch of rainrot), so it makes me feel less guilty about neglecting you guys Grin

My mum told me that Zara is on the team -- that's awesome.

FYI - for those that don't know, Zara Philips, is Mark Philips and Princess Anne's daughter.

    Re: Weight Loss Challenge

I had a schooling lesson with Emile Faurie years ago - he's pretty local too and a lovely rider. The others, I don't know WHO they are! No Carl Hester on the team Angry

I just bought a gorgeous dress! I'm so happy, it fits beautifully and it's so pretty. It's black and white with little straps, a sweetheart neckline and a little petticoat underneath which sticks out the bottom slightly. Comes just below my knees. It'll have to last me through 4 weddings this year!! Grin
