    Re: Tools, Machines and Politics

lucy- is that your washing machine that you were all talking about back awhile? nice. very nice. you are such a lucky girl. and thank you, sh, starz, and wim for all your compliments on my sig pic. did ya notice how big my hand is in the pic? i finally went to the dr about the swelling on my right side. no real conclusions, but dr thinks it's due to some lymphnodes being nicked in past surgery and now i will always have this problem. (don't u/s that, but...) my right hand is huge some mornings i can't even make a fist for about an hour. crazy. and don't even get me started about the swelling in my bum. it's huge too! lol! but the dr said no excuse for THAT except to get off my huge swollen bum!!!!!! i think i may need to find another dr. didn't quite like her "bedside" manner. she was so.... truthful!

joelle- how ya doing today? hope the headache went away and "physically" you are feeling better. the emotional part will take a while. but again, hang in there!

it's 5am, can't sleep, stil working ton's of o/t to help pay for spirits training etc... bye for now all, and i hope everyone of you has a lovely day!!!

    Re: Tools, Machines and Politics

oops, sorry ,rr- even I don't get everything right the first time - I keep trying - still, merry band...is a good start. For some reason I may have been thinking of black widow spiders who bite off the heads of their mates which also makes me think that sometimes it would be nice if men were made of gingerbread because then when they irritate you, you could bite their head off and it would taste quite nice. And no - I am not irritated with anyone - those were just thoughts crossing my mind. As the day goes on I am sure I will get other thoughts. Hopefully. Please.

Wendy - why are we up so early? Are we in a good mood or is it too early? DD goes to school early today - I will come back and chat with you in a few minutes after I have helped her with things - even though she is NEVER grateful!

Wendy - you should know us well enough by now that we don't give two hoots for the size of your hand or your bum. All we really care about is whether or not you have a cool cell phone with lots of bling and a super-great washer or dryer!! Grin

RC - that was indeed quite the poem. I think the meaning is this:

A flatulent horse is wiser and to be preferred over a silent man even if the man is of high birth.

Personally, I prefer the mornings we meet for sourdough toast and coffee. But since you don't seem to be here - I think I will go find some peace and tranquility with my yoga poses!!

    Re: Tools, Machines and Politics

Good morning! I got tired of posting into the air, because usually no one is here this early.
Wendy, darling, you and your horse are beautiful! Never sweat the small things, like swollen hands and bums...just you wait until you hit 50. Frown
SH, thank you for your philosophical analysis of the chinese poem. I think it means that a man's silence can be misinterpreted, but the base (gross) things in life, EVERYBODY understands. Either that, or they were all men and completly understood the horses ability to fart in public... Laugh

Wendy, Hey there... No, unfortunately, it's not my washing machine. I'm just on a kick of aggravating rr... something he obviously doesn't appreciate.

Your horse so much favors a yearling in Colorado I was seriously thinking about buying when I was in the market! Pretty...

    Re: Tools, Machines and Politics

Hi RC - I am tired of no one being here -why is everyone working too much ???

There is another interpretation of your poem - one never knows how intelligent a person is until s/he opens her/his mouth to prove the hypothesis so perhaps the man was keeping the secret of his intelligence to himself. There is a measure of truth to the fact that being quiet and waiting does lead to things working out. Of course I never have the patience for that!!! Blush Stick out tounge

Today is really busy for me - I have to leave soon and won't be back for several hours. I've already been late for things, had to do other things twice and couldn't get an office to answer the phone no matter how many times I called. OH WELL!!! It is all settling down now and going along! Maybe we can all play later today.

    Re: Tools, Machines and Politics

Hey Lucy - how are you? I realized we hadn't heard about your face recently - except that you were okay in public the other day. What changes are you noticing?

As for rr - my opinion, if you asked for it (which I know you didn't, so no charge, it's free for you) would be to go on aggravating him with fancy gadgets - esp if they open garage doors too - actually turning up the heat!! You have been fairly mild but I have faith in you. Smile

We really do need some new members to keep things moving along!! We don't want to become old news!!!

    Re: Tools, Machines and Politics

Gee... you all are just too "deep" this morning! I'd have to be in the right mental space to try and come up with a meaning for that poem.... Maybe another cup of coffee will help?

The weather here has been mild, but windy. But... we're in for an awful ice storm Friday sometime- yuck! The kind that breaks tree limbs and power lines. Then, next week is predicted to be below freezing, so I'm not hopeful the ice will melt in a timely manner. It would be so cool if the artic front would miraculously change direction and go hammer those folks in sunny California instead! Smirk Of course... they're having fires, which would be worse. Speaking of the Malibu fires... I just don't get it... Those people build those nice homes on those hills, and if they're not burning, they're sliding down from mudslides... Am I misunderstanding, or isn't there a predictable pattern here? I suppose the folks who can afford to build there can afford new houses when/if necessary.

    Re: Tools, Machines and Politics

Good morning Seahorse! Let's see... my face... the blue moon shapes under my eyes are a lot smaller and lighter, but still visible. The doctor had a timeline, I can't remember exactly. Something to the effect that my face and scars would continue to get harder until about the 6th week, or something, and then start softening up to normal. He said it could take 3 to six months total for all the swelling to be gone, but that I should look pretty much the way I'm going to look by 3 months. At least I'm to a point where people don't ask if I've been in a car wreck! When the bruising finally disappears, people that don't know me won't be able to tell I'm swollen I don't think. I can tell, simply because it's my face.... I'm pleased with the results, even now.

As for rr... some things I've learned from work apply... 1st, People only tease you if they like you. And, 2nd, The more you react, the more they'll tease you.... So.... let me think of my next gadget to post....... Grin

    Morning Lucy, hi again, SH.
Let's see, if silence is a measure of one's intelligence, then maybe that's why no one else is posting!!!! They are trying to prove their intelligence! What!!?? Confused
Glad things are looking better Lucy, you keep going after RR, it will inspire us to further hijinks. Grin

Lucy - you go girl!! New gadgets!! And multiples of them. I must be a bit slow today - what a TV you have now posted!!!

RC - while silence might equal intelligence, we have already proven ours with our range of well discussed topics!!!

It is a gloomy day here and is rather dragging at my spirits. It's a good thing that I am working at the food pantry today - my partner and I always have a good time in between serving clients as we discuss life, kids, choices etc.

Gotta run - or I'll be late - see you in a couple hours!! Keep the thread going - and do be mischevious!!

BTW is anyone else having trouble with ES - nothing is moving when I hit the reply or send or main index tabs - and it keeps falling out and saying that ES can't be displayed and I have to start all over again. Very annoying!!
