Hi everyone! Joelle, I didn't understand one word of your first post! SeeStarz, I wonder if that weather will be heading for us in a week or so? Often we get the same weather as the states, but a little milder, a week later.
I ALWAYS listen to the BBC when working(keeps me sane!) Living in Normandy, a hop, skip and a jump from southern England, I receive very accurate forecasts a good 24-48 hours in advance...
One of my labs use to climb ladders too. Never got up on the roof though. I've said it before, but some people even say that Labradors are dogs...can you believe that?
Just remembered; when I last lived in the states my lab was always getting in trouble on the beach with the rangers(CAlifornia.) I had some friends who would always want to take her with them and then somehow lose track of her. The fines started small, but each time would double. Finally, in the end one of the rangers comes by where I was living with my dog..."I can't do it, I can't keep arresting this dog. Soon as she sees me and my truck on the beach she runs right up to me and drops a frisbee at my feet..."

Dogs have a way of getting to you don't they - I've been know to mutter about my dog "if he wasn't so cute he'd be. . . ." especially when he was younger. My previous Aussie played on playgrounds too- loved it. This dog has gone to agility classes - he is really very good - too good in fact - I can't keep up with him - so fast - and my hubby jokes that he could keep up with him speed wise but could never get a verbal cue out fast enough to keep him going the right direction. Its a shame he is not owed by someone who could take him in competition. I hate it sometimes when I realize that dog has outsmarted me. - gotta luv'em - look at that face!

Mine, Arthur, is my first male Lab. It's something ALL TOGETHER DIFFERENT...He negotiates with me! He chases one of the horses. I have tried everything(don't like the electric collars where you zap the poor dog when he doesn't obey.) Anyway, when I chase him out of the paddock or field with the horses(and finally get hold of him,) I tie to him to the base of the same tree for a while... Often, when I see he has the 'urge' to go under the fence and start after the horses, I'll call him, coax him, plead, scold, break out the dog biscuits,...in the end(especially with the box of biscuits,) he'll look at me, look at the horses, decide, and take off under the fence... Fifteen minutes later(almost like clockwork,) he'll be waiting under that tree to be tied...and punished... What can you do? ..rr

Snow is only fun until you have to start shoveling it or driving in it. Ice is never fun (skaters are nuts!)

rr--under the word "not" in that post is a link to my local news station. They have a map up there that shows what counties are going to get what type of precip. The letters I wrote explain where on that map I live, work and keep the horses.
Does that help??

"Snow is only fun until you have to start shoveling it or driving in it. Ice is never fun (skaters are nuts!)" Ha I agree! But not to worry SeeingStarz's don't shovel - and I have a 4wheel drive to get through it all!

That would be Brandy. She doesn't mind the snow, or mind much of anything else, for that matter. She has to be the easist-going dog I've ever been around. Right before this picture, she was digging through the snow, trying to find her rope toy. She was running through the snow with her head buried to her ears, throwing up a big rooster tail of snow while she covered the entire yard, searching for her toy. Goofy dog!

Darn! I knew the heated dish idea had to be taken. Another get-rich-quick scheme down the tubes....
I think you need to talk to DesertGal about the Mickey D's with cappuccino. There is NO WAY Reno or Carson City have one of those!
Did you ever find anyone to help with your daughter's mare?

rr, I can loan you my mare, she isn't crazy about dogs, she will chase ANY dog out of her corral, and make sure they stay out! Really teaches them (dogs) horsey manners! remmer, I haven't found capuccino at our McD's. but we have a Starbucks on almost every corner... Read on MSN that New Orleans got hit with a tornado, and the entire mid west is under blizard conditions... Um, it's cloudy here... .

Well, I must say that my doggies are respectful of the horses, especially since they have all been trodden on now, very effective, we also have a very low 'hot wire' around the base of the dog yard that stops Baxter, our male dog, from 'visiting' the neighbours! It has stopped raining here and is a little warmer today, although I didnt get to ride this morn, but will ride tonight, as I slept in, still feeling a bit under, hopefully the washing that has been on the line for a couple of days now will actually dry today!!!

Love the pictures. I love the beach, used to go to the 'local' beach Carona Del Mar several times in the summer. Moved to the high desert, and added another hour to commute, now, it's just too far. Besides it is usually too busy anymore... Wall to wall bodies in the water - yeck!

Hi Amm - thanks for the pictures - the waves on the ocean were great!! How could you not get out and walk on the beach a bit?
Just saw on the news about the tornado in New Orleans - we are getting yet more snow and cold - and very windy!! I am skipping the barn today - will probably be sorry later as the horses often lift my spirits but today is a good day so, it will be alright.
This is a big storm we're getting - but the worst may be south of us and heading for WiM - you lucky thing!! Maybe we will all have a snow day tomorrow - fun!!
When I count my blessings, I count my horse twice!

Good afternoon SH, AMM, Wendy, RR, WiM, RC, Starz, Remmer, and Desertgal! Did I miss anyone?
RR... I don't know about you, but none of my dogs has any clue what a "dog" is! They could all use a trip to the dogpound to get a reality check! Henri will try to sneak and chase the horses also. And that's after losing a couple of teeth being kicked! My DH does what you do... he ties him to a tree or post, but he never seems to remember the punishment next time around.
Starz & Remmer... you're fur-kids are cute. Brandy looks like a Brandy, by the way. Starz... I don't think I could keep up with an Aussie... so full of energy. Henri's bad enough. He could use being in agility to burn some of that energy off.

hahah! SH I did get out of the car but nearly got run over several times, it just doesnt gel that I have to look out for cars on the BEACH! plus I was feeling like crap on the day with the flu!
Which I am still harbouring, bah humbug, and I have to judge this weekend and I have a lesson with my coach tomorrow night, well at least its stopped raining!!!
Oh Luce by the way the reason we have a hot wire around the dogs yard is that Baxter could scale the dog wire, very carefully placing a paw in each slot of the wire, when he wanted to visit some girly pooches! MEN!

hi guys and gals... got some good news mon. night that will help in my financial woes w/ bringing spirit home. the folks that took spirit up to tn in their (limolike) trailer have decided to go back up to tn w/ a couple of their horses and ride w/ my trainer and i for 3 days. so... they have kindly offered me a ride up w/ them, and spirit and i a ride back. yeee-haaa! so, it's going to save me a lot of $$$$$. and, i really like this couple. they have about 15 foundation bred qh's that are to die for. they take excellent care of their ponies, and are fun to visit w/ to boot. so the ride up to tn (eight hours) will be great conversation and company. and instead of me riding by myself w/ trainer scott, i'll have my friends up there too. more the merrier as far as i'm concerned. it will be interesting, me in my hunter gear, and the three of them in their roping saddles! we are all staying at trainer scotts ranch. i know it's going to be a lot of hard work, but i feel like i'm getting ready to go on a wild western adventure!!! just had to let you all know that i got that worked out. whew... now... back to working on trailer purchasing. i've got one in mind. 2,000. i need to find out the specifics on the trailer, and let you all know about it. maybe you can give me your opinions... don't know the least about trailers... the next few months are crazy for me. all the ot i've sched, 3 day clinic in march, leave the 28th for tn to ride for 3 days. april 14, a schooling show, 3 day clinic the last of april, and then may, a cousins wedding at the biltmore in coral gables, fl. i'm bummed about that b/c it's the same weekend as the 1st apha show i would have been ready to compete in. but... family comes first and there will be more paint shows. i will just have more time to gear up for the sep show. there is one in july, but july in ga is dreadful, no way am i putting on a hunter jacket in that heat.
amm- ALL your pic's are lovely. very impressive. and sooty is a cutie!
