Morning Everyone! Great photos and film! Wonderful way to start off the morning. Will check out MSNBC to learn more of the tornado in New Orleans...Those poor folks down there are really getting their share lately...

They're announcing dangerously high winds this morning for us. It has been unusualy warm, all of a sudden, AND VERY WET, enormous amounts of rainfall the past few days...

Wendy, I envy you! Sounds funny, but just a road trip up to Tennesse sends chills up my spine. What fun...I guess I miss the states...

Cat(on the "What's for Lunch," thread spoke about going to the AandW. That certainly brought back memories, going there on a Saturday Afternoon, after chores were done. Great Burgs and cold frosty mugs of rootbeer!

    I hope they havn't turned into McDonalds...Have a good day all...rr

    Re: back to pencils....

I am miffed. My county government is only delaying opening 2 hours this morning. We were/are smack dab in the middle of the pink ice storm bullseye and counties all around us are closed, but we are just delayed. On the positive side, we are allowed unscheduled leave today and I'm not going anywhere again!! The ice on my truck is visible from the kitchen and it may take all afternoon to scrape it off. The cars on the street are just crawling along. Crazy!!!

Darn it, I didn't want to post quite yet.

RR--I'm with you on the winds. It's quite windy here today with gusts up to 50 mph taking out ice coated trees everywhere. The news said that in Alexandria it sounded like artillery fire with so many breaking!

    Re: back to pencils....

Morning kids! (You too, FH). School is cancelled! We just have a few inches but are supposed to get up to 18" by noon. DD was already up and dressed and excited about going to school since it's VALENTINES DAY! So, no doubt I will be stuck all day with a grouchy 15 year old!
Hooray Wendy! What fun, 8 hours of great horse conversation and 3 days of riding with a trainer, I'm so jealous. Bet you can't wait to see Spirit.
AMM, loved the beach pics. It looked lovely and not a deadly creature in sight! Do hope you feel better.
Cindy, I think I got Oak Hills confused with Desert Hills, they have McDs with Cappucino.
WiM, you be careful, or call in sick or something.
Remmer, thanks for asking about DDs mare, I think I found a girl at a local stable that will help. She used to work at a big hunter/jumper barn in Phoenix as an assistant. Meanwhile we have been working her over groundrails just to get her comfortable. She is really a doll, this mare, DD can put a bucket on her head and she doesn't care.
    RR, behave yourself today!

    Happy Valentines Day everyone!
It is a very bright sunny and very cold day today - but the sunshine does help! My DD is home also - doesn't feel well - hummmmmmmmm! It does happen to be Valentines Day she doesn't feel well on - lets ponder that one for a while. . .
Speaking of valentine's My hubby gave me tickets to go see the Lipizzans on Sat night - that should be wonderful. Grin Grin Grin They are going to be not too far at Sears Centre.
Right now DH is outside playing I mean PLOWING the driveway with the John Deer - IT has a plow-snowthrower attachment that is pretty nifty.

    Re: back to pencils....

valentines day has been and gone for me - just another day!

Got a very spirited ride in last night - there is something about my boy when he has nearly 3 days of that is very powerful indeed hahaha!

RC - sadly the beach was littered with poisonous box jelly fish, washed up with the rough seas, so yeah fraid still deadly creatures in sight, but hey they sure do 'pop' when you run over them!

yet more rain last night, nothing on the radar this morning but its overcast, I hate this sought of 'don't know' weather as I'm never sure what rugs to leave on or off but i'm pretty sure its going to be clear hot and stuffy later this morning.

your DD's must miss an awful lot of school in this weather, I was watching good morning america the other day and the weather report come on, talk about mixed weather, sun rain snow ice tornados, incredible, our weather report comes on and its like hot hotter and hotter still, and now and again some rain! Although it does snow in places in the winter time Smirk

    Re: back to pencils....

    Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Care to come by and share some cake? I made one last night for everyone (all four of us) at work and they all called in sick! There's a nasty flu going around, so they're all down for the count. The wind has been blowing from the southwest, so maybe whatever AMM had has come over. Darn....a great, gooey chocolate cake with peanut butter icing and it's just it and me. Things don't look good for the cake!

Hey, rr, any progress with Nash? I had another thought of something you could try to help him work. Spiral-in, spiral-out circles work very well to help the horse start working his back and carry themselves. Have you tried these? I won't go into a long explanation if you have. I don't want to bore you! If you haven't, let me know and I'll make an attempt to explain.

I hope RC and SH are surviving the weather! Sure has been ugly this year. Where's that global warming when you need it?

    Re: word play

AMM - lovely description of the beach critters!

I know what you mean about which blanket(rug)when, It's always a debatable issue. Esp when the lil' horse really has no winter coat. She get a bit thicker but thats about all.

Hey REM - That cake sounds yummy - I think I will bake something for my Hubby today. Nash suggestion sounds good.
Since you all like words etc- Here's a fun word play a friend send me:

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition. There are some good ideas for team names here (I call ignoranus, by the way)
Here are this year's {2005} winners:

    1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.
    2. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.
    3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people that stops bright ideas from penetrating. The bozone layer, unfortunately, shows little sign of breaking down in the near future.
    4. Foreploy: Any misrepresentation about yourself for the purpose of getting laid.
    5. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the subject financially impotent for an indefinite period.
    6. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.
    7. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person who doesn't get it.
    8. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.
    9. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.
    10. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)
    11. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's like, a serious bummer.
    12. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
    13. Glibido: All talk and no action.
    14. Dopeler effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when they come at you rapidly.
    15. Arachnoleptic fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after you've accidentally walked through a spider web.
    16. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.
    17. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in the fruit you're eating.
And the pick of the literature:
    18. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an a***ole.
