    Re: Vanny News

Hi guys. I want to thank you all for being there for me and being so supportive. I'm coping for now and I am feeling somewhat better. Just a huge hole in my heart. I have great memories that I cherish.

Amm - I love those pictures. You guys looked spectacular and congrat's for doing so well. We're all proud of you. You are in inspiration to us. Glad to hear DD is doing better. That had to be a scary situation.

    I'm baaaaaack

    Hey guys:

Well I am back from Costa Rica ... after some trials and tribulations trying to get home ....

Sp my heart goes out to you.

Amm congrats on the show! How dd feels better soon !

Anyhow we had a pretty good time in Costa Rica, one person I could have gone my whole life without but other than that it was alot of fun. I swam in the ocean, kayaked, went on a jungle tour ( all firsts for me) I went on a 2 hour trail ride through the jungle and the ocean. It was fun to learn about different types of riding. The saddle was also really neat :)

We saw four kinds of  monkeys, and coaties( sp) Macaws and pelicans. and sardines by the hundreds. I was even lucky enough NOT to be the one who found a scorpion in their bag!

I know it's an improbable situation, Sp, but if I ever needed to leave decision-making responsibilities for my horses with someone else, you would be very high on my list.

     Welcome back, T! ~FH

    Re: Vanny News

    Hi all -

Sp - happy to see you back even if you aren't happy - just  keep on coping and looking forward to your fun-filled weekends.

AMM - glad to hear your DD is recovering and that the other DD gets to share barn chores for awhile. Stick out tongue Loved the pics of you and the boy - he is so shiny and relaxed looking and you look so "professional" on him.  Congrats on the comp scores - way to go!! Yes

I emailed CM to see where she is hiding herself - she is  busy and happy outside  with her horses now that the weather has broken - that is familiar story for us northeners, isn't it??

    Re: Blast from the past

Ok Gals - What did y'all get for mothers day? My oldest son sent me the most unusual gift ever. But it is also the best gift ever!!!!! It's a blast from the past. My favorite toy I ever had as a kid. I played with this night and day, inside and outside. I took excellent care of it, too bad I didn't keep it as it would have been a collectors item now but I was not into collecting, I was a kid, I was into playing.

I got Marvel the Mustang!!!!!!! Not an original. The grandkids will love it.

    Re: Blast from the past

    Welcome back Bucky and T!

Glad things are turning out OK at your house, AMM.  Lucky you to be off this week playing house mom.  And lovely pics of you and your boy.  He looks so smooth and relaxed.  Congrats!

Sp, what a fun toy you got!  I never had one of those.  You must have been riding around the house all day.

My nephew, his wife, their 2 kids and their friends descended on us Sunday.  So naturally I spent all day Friday and Saturday cleaning and cooking.  We had a lot of fun eating, drinking DH's famous Mai Tais, rode horses and gave the kids all rides.  It was a fun day.  Sunny, warm, almost 80 degrees.

Yesterday we had an awful wind storm and a fire broke out about 4 miles from us while the winds were howling in our direction.  So DH and I hooked up the trailers and gathered everything in case we needed to evacuate horses and all.  Within 2 hours though, the fire department got it out.  Relief.  It was so dry and windy.

Today, however, we woke up to a foot of snow!  It has been snowing all day and school had to be delayed.  Freaky.  Anyway I am laying in bed with a very bad backache, so will try to find someone in chat.  I'm bored...

    Re: Blast from the past

Love the pics AMM.  You two look so good together.

What I got for Mother's Day.

My MIL took my two boys to get their pics taken a while back.  Well, the boys decided they wanted to get frames for the pics and give me them for MD.  So, My MIL got the pics back and gave them to DH who took one of the two boys to my shop.  On my day off of course, and they picked out picture frames.  I took some pics of them last night but didn't get them uploaded yet.  I"m going to do that tonight so I can brag up my cute boys.  My older DS (10) also got me a cook book.  Not sure what he's trying to tell me...  Anyhoo, he's a very thoughtful kid when it comes to stuff like that.  He said he took his time looking a different ones and picked out the one with "the yummiest looking pictures".  So then last night I made a meal from the book.  IT was pretty darn good too.

    Re: Blast from the past

Aw, Sprague, what a cool mother's day gift!  I never knew of Marvel's existance before you posted that link.  JG, great gifts from your boys, too!

Let's see......I received a pretty little miniature rose plant in pink and a beautiful card.  Then I got to help finish building the fence and haul our remaining 2 horses home.  FUN Mother's Day!

Thanks, RC.  Good to be home and back on ES.  I CAN'T BELIEVE it is snowing there!

Welcome back T.  Happy you had such a great trip!

    Re: Blast from the past

     Hi, everyone!

Good to see you again, Tricia - the trip sound interesting.  Any news about your possible move?

Sprague - glad you're "sort of" back.  The pain will diminish, but let the memories live.

AMM - you guys look great!  And good job, nice scores!

SH - Thanks for letting us know about CM.  I was thinking about her the other day and wondering how she was doing.  Did you get an update on Talea's training?

RC - how's the back today?  Better, I hope.  I heard you were getting snow, but didn't hear a thing about the fire.  I'm glad they got it contained quickly.  Bless the firefighters!

Everyone's Mother's Day gifts sound great!  Gee, Buckster, don't you get any time off?Surprise

I think spring is finally here and we may actually get apples this year, as it doesn't look like we'll have a freeze any time soon.  All the ponies are well, except Rem (my 21 Y/O) is acting stiff and sore.  The vet is coming out Thursday afternoon to check him over.  I can't find any specific cause and it seems that the left hind is the most sore.  He doesn't have the laminitis "stance", so hopefully, that's not the problem.  He does spend a fair amount of time standing in the soft dirt around the water trough or in the shed on the shavings, so that has me worried.  The rest of the pen is rock hard, since all the sand has been blown off.  He is barefoot and has been for two years and he was "ouchy" before the last trim three days ago.  Any thoughts?

Ronnie and Cleo are doing well.  I should get some new pictures.  They both wear the saddle without issues and are getting over bucking on the longe line.  I can lean on both and Cleo doesn't seem to mind, but Ronnie likes to move away.  I'm not sure if it's that he minds the weight on his back so much, it's that we're standing still!  He very much likes to be doing something all the time.  He's a lot of fun and very, very quick to pick up on things.  I can't wait to start riding him!
