Hi ya - I keep missing everyone in chat -as if I had time to be there anyway. This summer is so blasted hot that I am spending lots of time at the pool and I don't take my computer there - just my friends and drinks!!
We have a French student for 3 weeks again - a teenage girl who is about DD's age. We are spending lots of time taking her places and showing her around town. She is still hesitant to speak English but she says she understands more everyday. Today is a French student outing - she was looking forward to speaking French all day with the other 15 students (though they only met each other on the plane over from Paris) and not having to think so hard with the English. We took her to family reunion in Pa over the weekend - it was GREAT as always even though it was stinking hot. We all have such a good time together the once a year we get together - maybe that is why we get along so well!!
The city started picking up all the downed trees from the storm several weeks ago - I am having a devil of a time getting tree companies and fence companies come to give me estimates. The insurance is moving much faster. :) I think I will give up and go with the company that did manage to get here even though I prefer to have more than one estimate. I don't understand why companies that come to look don't put in bids when they say they are going to.
The race to get DD packed up for college is sort of in neutral while the French girl is here - we'll get it done somehow or make more trips up to the university...whatever. DD is also in the midst of trying to spend time with friends as they all head off to their colleges. Everyone will be gone within 10 days of each other - and then I get a new life!! Hurray!! Can't wait!!
I will miss her, but this is where her life heads now and that is as it should be.
She is planning on joining so many groups that I don't know how she will have time to study - though she is irritated her advisor would not let her take as many credits as she wanted to. What's with that? Have to pile them on to graduate in a resaonable time. We have the all important football tickets purchased - Big 10 team so those were pricey little buggers.
Gotta run - later gater!!
When I count my blessings, I count my horse twice!
