    Gift for a trainer

I just had a lesson with my trainer today and along with getting close to an extra 1/2 hour free because we both got there early and were ready to go, but also shes really made my horse who he is and improved the both of us.

My mom has always been against me getting a gift for her until this year when I saw what I thought was a small wall hanging (quilt) with a dressage silloute in the center, it turned out to be a king size quilt and has some fading so I dont really like the idea of giving that, but now I'm at a loss for what to get her.

    Any suggestions?

I agree w/ FH. If you want to give a gift, be sure to include a nice note w/ it. That will mean more than the gift.

The gift can be just a token, but ti should be something sort of "personalized" - something that when you saw it made you think of her. A nicknack that looks like her fav horse, a t-shirt/plaque/bumpersticker/magnet w/ a saying that reminds you of her or one of her horses, maybe something you made (if you are crafty), a framed photo of her horse(s) (you can take the photo and then buy a frame).

The only problem with getting something that reminds me of her horses is that I've never met them.  She flies up to NH from MD once a month for our lessons.  The only thing I know about her horses is that one of her mares has really big ears and she has to cram them into one of those ear bonnets.

How about a gift card to a favorite resturant?  Or to her favorite tack shop or clothing store?  It doesn't have to be something related to horses, it could be something that she could use to pamper herself.

I've seen a coffee thermos for trainer's before, and a trainer's schedule book to schedule lessons, farrier visits, etc, with tons of awesome horse pictures in it.

I agree that a handwritten note expressing why you appreciate your trainer would mean alot. And something she (he) can enjoy like a meal at a favorite restuarant. I once gave my trainer a gift certificate to the movies - enough to take some one and have some popcorn, too. I don't think a gift has to be personalized. My trainer has received lots of horsey gifts, so I opted for something different.
