Halloween has crept up on us already - where has the year gone?  Do you have pics of you and your horse dressed in costume?   You can post them in response to this thread or in the Halloween gallery.

 I was able to follow the link. This "costume" would be useful for any discussion of biomechanics!

As for my own - the only time I ever dressed up was as Red Riding Hood (I was riding in a split skirt, bodice/peasant blouse, and a sparkly red hooded cape, carrying a basket) - and I dressed the horse as the wolf (using black quilt batting (to wrap the neck and tail), grey hair/body paint, and a scrap of material attached to the bit to make fangs.

The scariest costume I ever saw at a show was a scarecrow (rider) in a cornfield (horse). Several of the horses were freaked out by it! The next year she used fewer cornstalks - so people and horses could better see the horse in it, lol. See at the left of this pic -

 Wow I can see how that costume mightfreak out the horses with more corn stalks.  Great idea though!

I remember showing Mystic in that arena (VA Horse Park) in a grooms class, where Mystic decided that I wasn't ready to go faster than a walk. Refused to go to a running walk or canter, even when Jan yelled instructions to kick him, kick him, which I did, and he still refused to do. Wouldn't come out of a walk. She was showing him in other classes with no problems, and later on he did canter for me as well. I think he thought I wasn't ready for primetime yet since this was the first time I showed him in a show situation, even if it was a grooms class!!! LOL!!!

When Jan yelled out Kick him!! Kick him!! Everybody started laughing. It was kinda embarassing. Later on that year we were in a local show and we won the not ready for primetime riders class and we won that. I also cantered him later on so I think he thought I just wasn't ready yet. You have to remember he was a stallion, and he showed well during that show. This was a major naturally gaited show in the mid-atlantic area. So, I think he just thought I wasn't ready yet. He was special.

 Hahaha - I love it.  You inspired me to do an Embarrassing Horse Show Moments thread.  I know we've done them before, but probably not for a couple of years at least.  Everyone has had plenty of time for more embarrassing horse show moments!

You're quite welcome. I think this is one of the reasons I think that Mystic and I had bonded. I think I mentioned a long time ago about the first time Mystic had gone off the farm for a 2 day clinic, and he wouldn't eat the grain there the first time until I fed it to him by hand.
