I watched this video several days ago with great sadness.  The pain of losing this horse for the owner is great and it was a catastrophic event in that his passing was witnessed by so many at this show.  I brings to mind that no matter what greatness your horse has achieved in the Show World, the loss is great and catastrophic for anyone that has lost their partner, whether a great show horse, a barn favorite, or you best trail riding buddy.  there are no words for anyone's loss, just tears.

P.S. I also recall Blu Hors Matinee, the beautiful DWB mare that Andreas Helgstead rode to the enjoyment of thousands.  She was quite a dancer and would have gone to the Olympics at an early age had it not been for an injury which later put her out for brood mare, wherein she broke her leg in her stall and died.  These two are also posted on You Tube.  I suppose I might equate them to the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers in an equine sort of way.  

 The death of Blue Hors Matinee was a tragedy too.  I remember the video you are talking about -- even the non-horsey people I work with were entranced watching her dance!  Such a sad loss.

I watched the live stream of Lamaze's press conference, the ending was heart breaking. Though, I hope he manages to make it to the next Olympics.
