    Happy New Year!

Well it's that time again.  2011 is coming to a close - and what a year it's been! Record droughts, record heat and wildfires made 2011 a year that will be hard to forget.

What are your horse-related goals for the new year? (notice I didn't say "New Year's Resolution -- that seems to invite failure!)

I plan to get back into shape again -- I did it before, I'm sure I can do it again.  Even if I don't actually lose much weight, I want to be able to work around the horses without puffing and panting.  I've also been having some knee problems so I want to find some gentle exercises that will help me overcome that so I can post to the trot again.

What are your goals for the new year?

One of my goals is to work my Quarter Horse gelding on cattle, for the first time--even if it means paying the next-door neighbor $20 so I can mess with his for an hour (I don't have any cows and don't plan on getting any soon).  Another goal is to get to a reining clinic south of my place for some critique and advice.
