Shoo! Tag Horse Fly Mosquito Barrier Tags

    Hello All,

I'm a new member and have been watching and reading this forum for awhile and have decided to join in. I live in Alaska and we have horrible mosquitos every summer. Spray works just fine but was wondering if anyone has tryed the Shoo Tags that is a magnet on a card that your braid in the mane. I have read reviews but was interested if anyone here has tried or knows someone who has tried this product. Thanks!

I lived in AK for 44 yrs until 2002, so I know how huge Alaskan mosquitos are. Unfortunately, I didn't use anything special when I had a quarter-pony mare as a teenager. In WA, where I live now, the mosquitos are wimpy, if they show up at all. I use Mosquito Halt! if I know I'm going into the woods. I don't have any experience with Shoo! as a repellant, sorry.

    Do you live in ANC?

I have always used face masks (and sheets sometimes) in the summer and started using Freedom 45 last year... it worked great for me but we have more of a horse fly/deer fly problem not mosquitoes. When they bit, especially in the neck area, blood ran! From what I hear from my daughter in Alaska... Alaskan mosquitoes and Pennsylvanian horse flies are about the same size! Over 1/2 inch?

    Haven't tried the tags, sorry!

Alaskan mosquitos are huge. They've been known to carry off infants. :D

I, too, put fly masks on my mares. Worth a try for the face, but the mosquitos won't stop at the face. I got mosquito bites so bad as a kid that my mom had to put calamine lotion on me.

Yes, the mosquitos can be bad. I live in Fairbanks. I was just wondering if anyone has tried this Shoo! Hate to spend money for my ponies on something that won't work. Spray repllants work fine so I will keep use that. Thanks.
