I like doing laterals in quick succession: 10 steps of shoulder-in, 10 steps of travers, 10 steps of shoulder-in. Or counter-shoulder-in, renvers, counter-shoulder-in. Or leg yield, half-pass, leg yield. You can dream up any number of combinations. That gets the horse really stretching in different directions: stretching the shoulders then the haunches, or stretching to the inside then the outside.
