Can't wait to see the picture of henry in pink!!!
Well weighed in yesterday, 130lbs, no change which I am very pleased with as I have been eating some chocolate and other junk a little!
Well was fixed to the sofa for pretty much two weeks watching the equestrian games, I am sure my horses thought that I had abandoned them! (I went to feed every night, but didn't ride or groom too much!!) bad mum that I am!!! So now the games are done I am going to be out there alot more, I really need to start some more ground work with victor, took them both out for a ride yesterday, rode wolf and led victor and he was awesome, we even cantered in the stubble field and he was fab, not even a sign of wanting to take off! Wolfy was driving me crazy cause there is a million mosquitoes and he seems to want to rub and itch more than any other horse! I hope we get a frost soon and kill them off, it has been 5degrees at night, and then 20plus every day so pretty hot still. We get today off for labour day, so only a four day week which is great! then off to spruce meadows next saturday to watch lots of showjumping and maybe spend lots of money at all the trade stands they have....can't wait!!!!

Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Thanks! I really enjoyed watching, didn't get it til the day after each event happened, so made sure that I didn't see the results on the web!

Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Quote:

I've got a fairly good idea of what I'm doing wrong this time! Sorry about that, kinda rude of me!

I've got a fairly good idea of what I'm doing wrong this time! I'm thinking it's something to do with at least two meals a week of cheeseburgers and fries with gravy at the showgrounds, and the almost-daily icecream if it's hot, which it has been.

Willpower... damn, I *knew* I was forgetting to pack something!!! Not that there's much better food choices to be had at most of those concessions (so pack a lunch... duh... seems so simple when it's not 6am!) <sigh>

I tried one of the changeable gullet saddles on her, don't remember if it was a wintec or a collegiate now, but the pannels were all wrong for her back. The gullet was literally the only part of the saddle that fit her, so I decided better to save my money and try something a bit nicer.

Badminton? That'll be amazing! I'd love to watch in person one day. I used to dream of eventing, but my knees would never hold up around even a little xc course. I'm going to Spruce Meadows on Sep 9 to watch the Nations' Cup, and Anky van Grunsven is giving a demo ride before the competition. I've been once before, years ago, and it was amazing. I'm so looking forward to it, plus it'll mean I survived my first week of classes.

I've always preferred showing outdoors, probably largely because most of my horses have preferred the crowd farther away. Also Bad and Hoyt both had very long strides, and it was hard to squash them into some of the lines indoors. It'll be interesting to see what Squeaker likes!

Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Oh dear S - I find weekly weigh ins are the best for me, that way I can keep track of what I'm eating that does me good or not!

Got my last summer show tomorrow evening, hope to do a good test there as the top 6 qualify for the indoor dressage championships which run from October through to January. it's going to be tough as it's outdoors and there'll be lots for nosey Henry to stare at...

Then come September I get to ride round Badminton!!! Very very excited about that - it's obv not the full CCI4* course ha ha, but it's a ride designed to utilise the famous Badminton course with smaller fences. Then we have a HUGE hunter trial in October which I need to get Henry fitter for - lots of canter tracks coming up now we've had some rain!

So my Hunter Trial season is almost here - fave time of year for me LOL!

Have you thought about trying a wintec with the changeable gullet? I had one on my ex-youngster and it was fab - when he started to fill out we switched the gullet to a wider one to grow with him.

Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Wow, both of you look to be finishing the season with a bang! Congratulations!!

I'm not amused, as I just weighed in at 157lbs, which is up almost 10 from last month (I'm only supposed to check monthly, or I tend to start obsessing over every ounce) but I did have that week of forced rest in the hospital. I've also been at more shows this month, so not eating too well on the grounds. I want so bad to work some off by riding, but until we can find a saddle that fits that just won't happen. I have a really long leg and she's wide with no wither, so it's proving difficult to find something to fit us both. She's only 4 and very green, so I don't think bareback is such a smart idea! Plus with only two weeks until classes start I'm starting to get nervous, so that's making me eat more........

Okay, done whining now! I'll get there, eventually, but for now I need to do something about my legs as my chaps are getting too tight. I guess I need to walk more! <sigh>
S.

Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Whooooo hoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on the dressage that is fabulous!! And very good to Henry for loading, it is amazing how resilant some can be!
Well my show went good. Dressage not too bad, was in 5th, one 8 and lots of 5 and 6's!!! My free walk was terrible cause wolfy had his head in the air, looking at horses walking past!! and in warm up he did good free walks!
Clear xc but 2.8 time penalities for being 7seconds too slow, unusual as we are usually fast! ended up in 2nd after xc cause some got eliminated and refusals!!! So was quiet nervous going into the sj, and then found out the first place had withdrawn! Was disappointed with sj as we had two fences down, so thought I had dropped to third,as the two riders behind me had good rounds, then the results were posted and we were FIRST!!!! the other riders had time penalities as did I, but I was a % or 2 ahead of the second rider!!! The time must have been really tight as everyone had time faults. We won a saddle bad, jacket bad and boot bag all from Woof wear!! So I am very pleased! Kinda of dissapointed with our crappy show jumping round. Cause if we had been in a different class we would have been way out of it!! but oh well, good end to our season! Might have to go schooling xc over the bigger jumps for the rest of the summer to see if we can upgrade next year.
My mum took a couple of pictures of us with the ribbon, so will have to get her to send them eventually, as they don't have internet at the moment. She watched the sj, but didn't take pictures. No one watched my xc!
Anyway weight wise I am at 130, good job on yours!! keep up the good work!
Are you watching the World Equestrian games? I ordered the tv channel to specifically get it! Will have to avoid websites that talk about it, so that I can watch the show and not know the results already!!

Re: Weight Loss Challenge

Henry loaded like a dream!! Hurrah! He didn't seem fussed at all, in fact he trotted up the ramp into the back! We ended up being too dirty for Best Turned Out as it poured with rain all day, and Henry had some lovely stains on his butt from the lorry and even my miracle white shampoo didn't shift them!! Buuuut, we came 4th in the dressage!! Can't believe it! I thought the test had gone ok but not that well as Henry was really strong and our centre line was so wobbly, but we got 7's and 8's - even got an 8 for our canter which has been decidedly tense to say the least! Yay! Mum took some pics so as soon as I get them I'll pop them up on here.

Also lost another 2lbs this week taking my total loss to 15 now. I am 187lbs now!
