Our Equine Dentist, Holly bought him for 1200 and decided she can't keep him since she's leaving for texas for more destistry classes. So after having him online forsale for 1500 she said she would GIVE him to me.

His picture on his ad in the conformation critiques folder does him NO justice.

We picked him up today and brought him home. He's about 14.1-2 hands and have a babydoll head and is muscled head to toe for a three year old that i have seen.

He's 3 years old born March of 2006, Sire is App. Dam is QH. He's reqistered App and QH. ZERO spots on him he's a plain sorrel gelding. with one white cornet and a tiny star.

I LOVE HIM... i havnt worked him yet but his personality is sooooo laid back. his spooks are almost in place most of the time it was a small quiver.

SORRY no pictures i forgot my Camera today, will take pictures on friday promise.

Farrier was out today also said he is slghtly sicklehocked... what exactly does that mean??

my colt's AWS inspection

It went really well and he earned a Blue Preferred, I am so happy and so proud of him. He hopped right on the trailer, rode well except he somehow nicked the back of his left hind pastern, but it didn't bother him much. We cleaned it up and settled him and his dam in their stall and went for the briefing, watched several other foals go, and then I watched my husband and our friend bring in our mare & foal...during which I of course became so involved in listening to what the judge/inspector had to say (it was Jean Brooks, the founder and National Director of AWS!) that I didn't snap very many photos at all.

He was so good though, and in spite of that tiny boo-boo, he moved pretty well and she made lovely comments on him. She was also shocked that Anna was a TB mare and commented to me that she looks and moves very nicely, more warmblood type and I loved that.

Everyone was so lovely and friendly, and we all asked questions, cheered one another on, and Jean gave a lot of great feedback on every comment she'd made on every horse, and answered all our questions, and encouraged more. I really liked that a lot!

He earned a 75.25% thus earning Blue Preferred making me quite happy, and was also eligible for branding, which we did decide to go ahead with. Please, no flaming remarks if you are against this, I have my reasons for it, and believe we made the right choice. He did not leap forward or sideways, he didn't even flinch away, stood like a rock. Every one that was eligible did brand and I didn't see one horse or foal jump, hear any screaming...they were not traumatized by it in my opinion in being there and observing every single one being done.

It has healed very well, is very clear and easily distinguishable as to what it is. I just wanted to share my good news.

New pictures

New farm! Through the wonderful network of eventers, I found a beautiful private farm not three miles from my house -- OMG, I am in mad barn love. The owner is very nice and pretty laid back. She is a clean freak, I swear she sweeps out the tack room every five minutes, but as I myself am guilty of some serious OCD, I can't hold it against her, LOL. There are two or three other boarders, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Solo can FINALLY be out 24/7, he only comes in to eat then goes right back out!!!! We have hot water in the wash rack!!! We have footing that never gets muddy!!!! We have wonderful vinyl fencing with no wire to be found!!!! No rocks, no concrete, no rusty nails laying around! And we can go across the street if we really want to use an indoor arena for just a day fee -- although I doubt I will be doing much of that, I can only think of maybe three or four days in the past year when I really WANTED to be in our old covered arena. Oh, and I can bring whatever trainers, farriers, vets I want and no one will get their panties in a twist!!!!! How I love people who are not insecure....

Without further ado.....

The lovely little barn

I've been working so hard to break the 40 barrier on our dressage score, it's been driving me NUTS. The ring staff messed up my ride time yesterday morning too, so I was really ticked off and flustered and overall did not feel the test went well, too much tension, yuck. But...we ended up with a 37.5 and we have ridden under this judge before so I was REALLY excited about that!

Stadium started not so great, we jumped THROUGH jump 3, the course was very tough, practically every turn was a rollback and your lines had to be VERY accurate. I blew the line before 3 and was way too tense, but thank God Solo kept going. I sat down and rode after that, rest of the course went great (they have very looky jumps there too, lots of designs).

XC of course, was a blast and I made us do all the hard options, including a bank up out of the water, two big ditches, and a drop. That is our strong point and it was a blast to ride -- I like this farm in that she always makes her courses so you have to MOVE OUT to make the time, I hate trying to hold my horse back all the time, so it was nice and forward and gallopy.

AND WE ENDED UP IN FIRST PLACE IN OUR DIVISION! We were the only people to go double clear XC and we only had 4 penalties on stadium from my mess-up. I had to read the score sheet about 8 times before I believed it. So we got an awesome ribbon and a blue bucket full of goodies! It's the only blue we've ever won at an actual horse trial, so it was a really big deal for us!

The photographer does not have our pictures up yet, but it looks like she is busy uploading....I am impatient!

Some Pics Of Jet...

Hangin' out with Jet in his stall. Jet's first day exploring the farm.Jet's first day under saddle.Isn't he cute in the blue?Sleep-eating...

Something made me put Annapolis' saddle and bridle in the car. I wanted to be able to ride if he looked like he was up for it.

I haven't ridden him since January 1 this year -- his 30th birthday, so I wondered how he'd react to being ridden again. But he was very good. I rode him in the arena for a while, doing a bit of walking and trotting (my legs were all over the place at the trot) then Eric walked with me as I rode the pathway that goes around the farm I board at.

Brody has put in some very inviting cross country jumps, but since I was on a 30 yr old horse in a dressage saddle and without a helmet I walked around them instead (yeah, I know, BAD JAYNE - but my helmet had seen better days and was never quite the same after Annapolis dumped me last Thanksgiving and I just never got around to replacing it)

I love the way he perked his ears, paying great attention to everything going on around him, especially parts of the farm he doesn't usually see from his pasture.

I felt like he was enjoying our ride as much as I was

Show Results, also need some advice

Alright We had our last show of the season two weekends ago. I took CB.
We got:
1st in WT pleasure, i only entered WT because i wanted him to be adjusted to the ring before our WTC class, this class was two classes before my WTC EQ class so it was the perfect oppurtunity.

2nd in WTC Open English Eq. I was vey happy with this although last year we got 1st in it. CB picked up all his right leads for once and held himself very nicely.

then comes the class i wasnt to happy about...

6th place in WTC Open English Pleasure. He picked up all his right leads and i though he held himself very nicely. of course i took the risk and entered a Saddlebred/Arab in a Open pleasure class with a huntseat saddle. Judge said he was overly collected and avoiding the bit at the canter (well i know he was for a few seconds becuase he was very hyped up and i was trying to calm him down.)

I only stayed for those three classes. It was 40 degrees and the wind was horrible. the ring was tad bit muddy and it wasnt worth staying for the barrels and polebending with those conditions and i know we woulda taken 1st or 2nd in all our speed classes, we always do there and there were only about 10-15 total competitiors that showed up for the show since it was so cold.

Also this judge wasnt even a real judge it was the Barn Owners daughter of where the show was held.

First off is Majic, I don't have many pics of her. SHe had cushings, was in her early 30's and not doing well anymore.

I added the links to the pics but if you just click reply (you don't have to reply if you don't want) you can then see the whole pic.

Here she is hiding behind the round bale feeder

Remember Faithers, well "faith". That scrawny little 4 yr old I bought 2 years ago that yall told me would end up w/ "green + green=black and blue.." Well, its been 2 years since then, and crazy, wild, uneducated little bay filly is now 6 yr old, bombproof, spookproof, down to earth, pony-ridin,barrel racin, cow cuttin, handle like a dream, trail ridin(we go w/ the mules, LOL), log jumpin, log pullin, tarp draggin, dog haulin, barebackin, double ridin, deer huntin(much more) and most of all, the most amazing horse I've ever owned. We've learned together, and thought I might as well post some before and after pics.....and maybe get some critiques (if u don't mind) and comments : ) I look forward to them.......

I was, b/c of college, at one point going to sell her, but she's worth more that people were wanting to give for a bombproof adult/kids horse w/ an amazing set of papers...I was asking 2000$.

anyway, to the pics and video, and Please, I had just gotten back from a dressy occastion, didn't even bother to take the shirt off, grabbed some jeans,a nd held on. And yes, split reins, and yes, I am no jumper, but she loves it : )

Before (2 yrs ago)

Back when we could not keep weight on her for the world(before switching to XTN):

He's super cute, steps level and has a sweet temperament. This makes 5 Rockies for me... I think it's a disease! ;) I can't wait to show him in the Park Pleasure division, which is the highest animation that a Rocky can have. He's 14.2 and needs some groceries, but there was just something when I test rode him that just stuck.

He's coming home today, I am 45 minutes away so I'm dragging myself away from school to go possibly ride him when I get done with barn chores and soccer. Here is a picture of us when I test rode him:

KMSHA World Show, here I come! So I brought Harley for me and Calista for my friend Amanda to try it out. I have a friend Morgan who has been in love with Braveheart from photos. She wanted to meet and ride him, so she came. I told her it was up to her if she felt brave enough to try soccer, and she DID! And funny enough, Mister "I'm scared of the world" did the best lol!!!

First some photos I "took" from the videos

Videos...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf8nzRlcqm8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhQZu5_O1yg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwsjCtye-uk

In this one, Calista freaked out about being "trapped" by so many horses, and that caused Braveheart to throw a fit... I honestly thought he was going over and would land on me so I was busy backing Harley! It wasn't until I saw the video I realized Cali, while it started her being mad about the horses, was getting MAD by Amanda. Amanda has only ridden a handful of times on trail rides with me, and I think she got very nervous! So I feel bad for Cali :(

And the ride was great! I saddled her up and she is used to that so she was like whatever. Then we did some flexing and clicker work. And I decided that this was the day. She was relaxed and in the mood to learns so I climbed up in the saddle. Mostly I just sat up on her while she grazed around and Tanya lead her around a little too. I did lots of moving around in the saddle, rubbed her head, shoulder, butt, etc. and touched her all over her sides with my heels. She didn't do any freaking out but she did forget I was up there when I was still for a minute even though I talked to her the whole time and when I touched her neck she gave a little jump like what touched me. Then she looked at me and was like Oh it was just you. I am so proud of her!

Tanya was leaning on Kat trying to make her move over and Kat wasn't budging, LOL

This is Kats pasture mate Princess. She is Tanya's Arab. I moved Kat there awhile back and she has become so much more relaxed and spoiled. Tanya loves her and her little brother Devin and son Tyler go out and play with Kat. Kat will come running and touch her ball or feeder or just about anything for a treat. They just think that is so cool!

I put Kats ball in the tire so she was having a hard time getting it out. She knows the touch, push, kick and even lick command, LOL but did not want to push the ball hard enough to kock it out of the tire. You can see Princess in the background. She hates the ball and stays far away when kat plays with it because I have Kat kick it at her, LOL.

The morning stuff was in hand stuff. Craig didn't want to do those, as he doesn't care too much and he has a hurt foot. I wasn't sure just WHAT we were doing, but it wasn't real close to the trailers. So I wanted to take Shakespeare for some experience, but if there were things I couldn't do with him, I wanted to have Chili, so Craig brought down Chili for me. Shakespeare was just weaned last week, and I wasn't sure if he'd lead real well. So I brought a butt rope and had it on him, but he is SUCH a good boy, I didn't even need it! :) (well, a couple times but hardly at all). He trotted and walked very well with me! :)

The first game we did was a relay race with two teams. To make them even, Craig ended up doing it with Chili. There were two buckets full of things with a towel. One at a time, a person had to go over with their horse, take an object and set it on the table, run back and the next person goes. Each person had to stack the objects on each other, with nothing inside another. It wasn't until both teams were almost done we realized the BUCKET had to be used, too! So both "pyramids" toppled and we had to start over lol! Our team won, BARELY, Shakespeare crossed the finish line a nose before the other team's horse! No photos since Craig had to play.

Next we did "pole bending" around cones :) I forget who won. Here are some photos

Then we had another relay race. Craig had to join again, so no photos. But we had to run to a table, which had a shirt, hat, and two leg wraps. Put them on your mini anyway you want, run over to someone who took your photo, back to the table to take off the cloths, then back to your group for the next person. Hopefully I'll get the photos that were taken though! Shakespeare didn't care about all the stuff on him! :) Neither did Chili, but I knew he wouldn't. Actually, none of the horses had a problem with it! Our team won again, a full horse ahead :)

Next was a trail course. First over a bridge

Shakespeare said no lol but I got him to go up and sniff it, so that was good enough for me

Then through, um... pool noodles? Since it was going away, Craig didn't take many photos, but all the horses went through it fine.

Then over a "jump" (Shakespeare walked over it, but the photo was SUPER blurry because Chili bumped Craig's arm :( )

Then go get all four feet in a "box." Shakespeare didn't want to go through the tall side, but did go in on the lower side. No photo of him in it though?

Then through water. Some horses, no problem. Others, no way! LOL

My friend Shirlee took the dryer way, luckily her horse didn't pull/knock her off!

Shakespeare didn't want to go in!

So we cheated and went through a puddle instead ;)

I think my friend Ann won, but I forget ;)

Then after a lunch, we harness up for a Driving Darby. A darby has cones and hazards (like a CDE) but all together, with no dressage. It's easy, quick, and a lot of fun! One horse did crash through a hazard, but after the others finished she went back in with that mini and he had no problems :) Chili and I won the expert division :) I'm not sure who won training.

The Chili Pepper and I

No photos of Craig, since I was harnessing Chili when he went.

After, some friends and I went and played in the hazards, mainly the water

WOOHOO!

It was a hunter/jumper schooling show, and our only goal was that I didn’t end up eating dirt. I was planning on doing two flat classes (pleasure and equitation) and then the 18” and under x-rail class. I ended up chickening out of my flat classes because Nova was quite hyped for a short while, and I thought the classes were moving a lot faster than what they were (as it turns out, 2 hours [or so it felt] later, I’m sure we would have been just fine).

As I said, Nova was a bit hyped. I first got on him and rode him around the indoor arena where my class was going to be held (complete with jumps already set up), and he was quite alert, but not spooky or too excited. (It was his first time ever in an indoor arena, and he was quite intrigued with the mirrors on the walls!) After I went to change into my show clothes and by the time we got back to the arenas he was hyped up (after trying to deafen my mother while I was changing). I got back on and he was quite jiggy, but luckily I was able to buddy up with this nice lady and her gelding and we started to walk around together. It definitely helped calm Nova down, and me too because I got to chat with her. There were other people working on the same circle (only non-arena schooling space), so I just walked and trotted him at first. The lady then had to get something from her trailer, and the space cleared out, so I decided he was chilled out enough to canter. Boy, I was so right! His right lead is his sticky lead, but he gave it to me twice in a row, with just a gorgeous depart. I was so pleased! (Of course, mother had gone to get something from the truck, so no proof of this miracle.) I then went to the left, and again he was steady, gave me the lead, and listened well. The lady had come back and commented that he was looking good. : )

We then moved over to the indoor ring to wait our turn for the x-rail class. They had it set up so groups of five or so would go through and take turns doing all three courses, then the next group would go. I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be, actually. (Didn’t feel like vomiting right before I went in, whew.) The very first jump we did he veered around it (I was looking at it, my fault totally), and I wasn’t sure if I should keep going or do it again. But the judge was very nice and let me start all over again, and just kept the 4 faults for the refusal. He went over it perfectly the next try. For all three of my courses I kept him at a trot just so he didn’t get too strong or tried to over-jump them. I was really proud of how settled he was in there. He was listening really well, and we managed to mostly go straight at the jumps. (And I didn’t forget the course!) Mother managed to get part of two of the courses on video, which I’m uploading right now. I will either add the link to this post or a new one. (Seriously - 2 minute video, 3+ hours to upload...)

Anyway, I felt really good by the time we were finished. We had a very successful day – he listened well, calmed down and acted like a pro in a short amount of time, and I didn’t fall off!! The best part of the day though? I won two 4th place ribbons!! We left before they were announced, so my trainer has them, but I’m so excited and surprised about them! They are certainly the icing on the cake. I love my horse.

Now for pictures!

These are a few from yesterday, after he was braided (and rubbed against a tree – that brat) and looking fancy.

Here are some pictures of Arizen. She didn't have to get all braided and everything because she already got her First Premium last year and wasn't being judged, but her baby did really well and got his First Premium, too.
