I think the biggest thing I see is that he looks soooooo happy! Ears pricked, eyes sparkling, coat glowing. It is hard to tell a lot about movement from still pics. I think he will be an even flashier mover once he's more conditioned. His striding seems very even and relaxed for sure!

Re: Some Odhinn pictures....

O's looking so nice and relaxed -- I'm not sure I remember seeing him looking that contented before. You went through this with Kelly last year (and now again). Seeing a horse go from a phenomenal prospect to questionable soundness/recovery is absolutely heartbreaking, and I think one of the hardest things to deal with in the horse industry....

Re: Some Odhinn pictures....

Pygmy...thanks. He was a late shedder this summer. He must have been in more pain that I realized. He had his spring coat on, really until July, and he started shedding buckets. Those dapples are just now appearing, and it makes me so happy as I take it that HE is feeling SO much better.

Re: Some Odhinn pictures....

LOL!! There were several days this summer when you could have had a free brown horse, lol. But I think you prefer flashier colors anyway . Not now though...he is a keeper . He has been a total complete blast to ride this last couple of weeks. I don't ever remember having this much FUN with him, and not fighting about something. I think the 'go forward', quit picking at him' approach has done us both some good.

I know it is hard tell from still shots, but do you think he looks less funky in the hind end than when you saw him last?

Re: Some Odhinn pictures....

OH MAN! The free-lunging keeps him really focused on me... I have just had the best time doing it. He was in a really cooperative mood today, though. I agree...his is obviously much more relaxed with himself. I can SEE where his back comes up in the pictures, and the withers rise, and the dip in front of the neck goes away. HE feels good. Before the surgery, he wouldn't get a really 'forward' trot without breaking into the canter almost right away. Now, he will lengthen with just a bit of vocal encouragement for me for several strides before he canters or slows down, not because he doesn't want to, but because he isn't strong enough to hold it yet. But, he is obviously MUCH more comfortable.

Re: Some Odhinn pictures....

yeah Odhinn! he looks really good, it is so great to see him starting to move great again, it must be such a relief.
